Thank you for posting this, very detailed pictures
One tip, when prying off mirror ...... Spread out the pressure. Use as many fingers as u can, and widen your finger gaps. Reduces the possible chances of breaking the mirror
I just did this mod, thank you Brett for the detailed pics, I was a bit afraid of removing the mirror but it was easy, firm pull on the lower edge. It took me 40 minutes but now knowing how to do it, it could easily take 20 mins or less.
You can get away without using a flathead sometimes, but a flat head is still ideal cause you're prying the glass frame away from the motor base plate. If you simply just pull on the glass, and your particular car has stubborn glue, you can crack the glass itself. So it's safer to use a screwdriver or some sort of wide blade plastic pry tool (trim removal panel, long thing and flat, made of plastic, is best) Some cars are tighter than others.
I guess I was as lucky as Brett, 2014 with 99k+ miles and the glue was very soft still, didn't need too much force to remove the mirror, I feel like there is a more proper way to do with the screw driver? Prying/twisting where the mirror snap points are would be my guess.
Edit: I didn't spend too much time researching as this post was pretty clear to what to expect being that the cars are just one year apart.

Reason: Added bottom note
I chickened out when trying this a while back. Mine was actually not working, it looks like the previous owner either got side swiped and only got their mirror hit or they got too close to something. I pulled and pulled and then just decided I wasn't worried enough about it. Well it randomly started working like 2 weeks ago.
