Default Side Mirror Cover Removal

So if anyone is wondering like I did. This is how you remove the mirror covers.

The mirror is clipped on the housing by 4 clips, marked in red. Pry gently and start from one corner and work around. Disconnect the wiring, the heated plugs are removed by just pulling them off.

To remove the housing remove the 5 screws marked in yellow. Pull the housing off by separating starting from the outside and working inward. IT DOES NOT TAKE FORCE TO SEPARATE!

hey as long as you have it open, can you take a picture of the puddle light?

I was wondering if it is LED or Halogen.

I currently have it put back together. I will pull it back apart and find out for you when I get a chance. I should have checked when I had it off.

Thanks for the DIYs. This and the wing removal should be stickied or place in the FAQs.

Btw. What were you planning to do? Was this when you did the CF housing?

Hi Hai, I purchased a CF overlay for the mirrors which was garbage, it then got me thinking how hard it was to remove the actual mirror cover to find out. Now that I know I can remove it, I was planning on sending my covers out to have it carbon professionally. I actually have the vent on order with Carbon Exchange (RCF_700) depending how the vent turns out I will probably see if he can make it for me, not an overlay but full replacement part.

This is very helpful. I'm looking to get mine overlayed. I'll wait till the winter since most places would be backed up right now.

Default Great write up and pics!

Howzit "pheen"!
Great "how to" and pics man, thanks for posting!
I was wondering a few things: did you use just your fingers to pull off the mirror? Did you "adjust" the mirror angled in or out before pulling it off? And lastly, is the cover (painted part) one piece (together with the part that the LED turn signal cut out, black piece) or is that black piece with the cut out a separate piece? I hope that makes sense. lol
Thanks for your time brother!

Hi Pheen, I’m about to replace my driver side side mirror glass, was there a glue or sticky white substance under the mirror when you removed it? I see it in some other mirror removal videos for other Lexus cars.

Question Was the front of the housing separate?

Hi this was very helpful - we have the same damage with our 2015 NX200T. When you removed the 5 mounting screws, did the front black rim come off? It seems like that ring is separate from the main mount but not positive since I didn't take mine apart. I was hoping to find a used mirror and just get that ring off it to replace mine since everything else is fine on the mirror other than that corner by the marker light. Hope that makes sense. Hard to find a reasonable priced used one but hoping I can. THANKS for any information.

Default Thanks!

This was so helpful for me too. I was going to take the car in to get repaired (up/down not working) but was able to dismantle myself with the aid of your post. Thanks

Nice write-up and pics. If you have trouble getting your fingers behind the mirror to pry off, you can always tilt the mirror up or down to create more space. This made it easier for me.
