This sounds insanely stupid but next to the MPG one of the things I like most about this car is there is virtually no brake dust. Previously I had a BMW and previous to that an Audi so the lack of bake dust is exciting if you like clean looking wheels.

 

nice! over time brake dust can ruin wheels...i used to detail cars and cleaning wheels was no fun

 

The hybrid power train uses the electric motors as generators to slow down the vehicle and recharge the batteries. It uses the hydraulic brakes for emergency stops and when the vehicle is coming to a complete stop.

 

Which leads to no brake dust and little need for a brake job......

 

from my understanding while the gauge is in charge when braking you are only using the regenerative brakes. once that maxes out then you use the calipers

That's funny, I was just looking at my rims and how I have some break dust already after only a few hundred miles. But my commute has some annoying stops and starts for school buses and such, so I'm using the breaks now and again.
