I think think the misfires are not due to the hid brand but rather Lexus computer is not getting enough resistance so it shuts it off.

I used our shop hid kit and after wiring it up, the lights will turn on for a brief second ( so that tells me it's not the misfire) but shortly after it shuts off. So my guess is normal hid kits do not offer enough resistance.

I'm going to test a theory since we are installing lights on my 2012 ct200h

Just finished our HID install and wrote a DIY thread elsewhere. The before/after is amazing difference

What's your theory and did it work?

I have 2 HID kits installed (Kensun 4300k and 3000k) and get misfires on auto mode a lot.
The weather is great right now so it is definitely not the temperature.

I really hope someone comes up with a solution to this soon!

Thanks!

The retrofit source has the best balance of quality and price (IMO)

Also, 4300k looks so so so so so much better than 5000k or ricer blue 6000k +

It pains me to see nice front ends with drill holes in the front bumper... I'm glad I no longer live in a state that requires both front and rear license plates.

Yes works 100% of the time so far - no issues but I really think it's about doing the install correctly the first time.

Sorry only 8000+ is ricer IMO, nothing wrong with 5000k or 6000k!

I do not need front plates nor do I ever use them but dealer had every car in their lot pre-drilled, idiot!

Having NO issues with misfires and having your HID work 100% of the time is all about finding a quality HID Kit.. I dont believe it has much to do with the install.. Almost all HID kits on the market are plug and play.. so there is really not much you can mess up on. Most important thing is to find a quality digital AC Ballast.

Just my $0.02.....I got the Kensun 4300K and it was plug and play with no shaved ends. After a few months I have not had a single misfire and leave mine in auto mode 100% of the time.

I am thinking of installing the either the Kensun 4300 or Philips 4300 HID. Philips seem a lot more money, but wondering if they are worth it? Are you guys just doing low beams and high beams or low beams only. Sorry if that is a dumb question.

Would rather have a shop install these for me. I live in the Cleveland area if anyone knows a good install shop. I am not the best at doing this stuff. Thanks!

Most people have no problem with Kensun.
I do have a problem not firing up in auto mode, even in the summer. So I am just going to wait it out and ditch this ****ty kit for a good one as soon as there is a general consensus on which kit works perfect

Well for me, I find that sometimes it's the intermittent connections that cause mis-fires so I ended up soldering all the wiring from the OEM harness to the ballast. I do agree a quality kit is the first step + a quality installation. If you just plug the cables in with tape, eventually the connection will get loose.

I'm happy to assist anyone with the install if you are in the Norcal / Fremont area

Does anyone know whether changing the HID light would affect the warranty on the Electrical parts?

Default McCulloch hid kits are the way to go.

It could be a bad ballast. I run an automotive styling shop and I buy alot of HID kits from ultrabrightlights. I get the McCulloch hid kits because at least I know its going to work and keep working on my customer's cars. You just need to know what bulb size your car takes and then just pick your favorite Kelvin color. The 8000K is very bright but not overkill and has a blue tint to it.
