Default Shift to P Position to Continue Issue

Bought a used 2017 CT200h with only 60K mi. about two months ago, and everything was great and running fine. About a week ago, I started seeing the 'Shift to P Position to Continue' code when I shifted to Reverse or Drive. It would only shift to N and display the message. At first, I thought it was because I didn't put it to P when I turned off the car, but it kept on doing it. I would have to turn off and turn on the car again before it would allow me to shirt to R or D. I read in the forums that it could be the 12V battery needs to be replaced, and I have since replaced the 12V battery from Yusa 325CCA to a 410CCA battery. I'm still getting the issue with the shift message. Do I need to reset the computer or something? I didn't have to use a memory saver and the radio stations didn't reset like other cars would do after putting a new battery in. Any advice?

There could be a problem with the hybrid system or traction battery. Or even a brake light switch.

I found these possible answers elsewhere:
1)
"I believe this can occur when the parking pawl hasn't engaged properly after stopping the car.

The Prius (CT200h has the Prius hybrid system) should automatically engage park even if you power it off without pressing the park button next to the shifter. However if the 12v battery is getting old, it may not provide enough current to correctly engage the pawl. It's also possible I guess that some issue with the mechanism is preventing park from engaging reliably.

Replacing the 12v battery is usually the first step in troubleshooting this kind of weirdness. If it's over 5 years old and hasn't been replaced, I'd suggest swapping it out even if you're not convinced it's causing any issues. It will soon enough.

As others have said, you shouldn't need to press the power button twice. Just once with your foot on the brake. Pressing without your foot on the brake will alternate the car between Accessory and On mode but will not start the hybrid system."

2)
At least in our 2012 v, we turn off the running car with foot on brake and press START once. This action automatically places the car in PARK, then turns off all systems.

Upon start, the car expects to be in PARK, with foot on brake, and one press to START. Once you see READY, place the car in reverse or forward.

3)
I just found the solution and wanted to share with you:
Hit the brake before start the car, note that the power button light is green, and then press the power button. You won't see this message when you go to drive mode.

No this car is not a type of a car you need to press the power button twice to start.

You see, before that I was pushing the power button, wait for the car's map and few symbols to appear. Then I was pressing power the second time, with my foot is on the brake, and the car was becoming fully operational. But when I try to go to drive, this message was appearing.
Fun fact, if I simply push power off and on again, the error message was not coming the second time. Probably there is a technical reason for that.

Finally, if none of the above work..
This may be impossible to diagnose online and you may want to have an independent hybrid specialist check it out. There are quite a few of them around.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. I think the issue resolved after the battery cycled through once. I guess the take away is that after changing your battery drive through a cycle once.
