Have you seen The Waving Guy at Beach/Bolsa?
There's an older Asian man who hangs out at the corner of Beach Blvd. and Bolsa Ave. in Midway City and waves at cars. He stands right next to the traffic light on the Northeast corner of the intersection, right in front of the florist shop. He only waves at cars going north. It's more like he just holds his hand up, actually. If you're turning from eastbound on Bolsa to head north on Beach, that's not good enough. The Waving Guy will not wave at you. As soon as the light turns green to let northbound traffic go on Beach, he does the static, one hand wave. I used to see him during my morning commute, but now he seems to prefer afternoons.
Has anyone else noticed The Waving Guy?

I get the impression it's a lights on, no one home situation to an extent. Sometimes, I see him take a break from waving to take a cell phone call, though. I wonder what could be so important as to tear him away from waving at cars.

I've seen him too.
There used to be a guy in Cerritos on the SE corner of Artesia Blvd and Shoemaker. He had a white "Jesus" sign and would do similar. I think the sheriff told him to stop and he hasn't been back. Each afternoon when I made that turn, he was there. Kinda get accustomed to seeing some of the eccentric types.

I honk and wave at The Waving Guy. I once saw him give an extra wave to the cops, who honked and waved back at him. The Waving Guy was not at his post Thursday afternoon. Maybe today.
