hi. i got pulled over a few years back for a rolling on a red light when I made a right turn. It was $400 and you have to pay for traffic school.
I think you can schedule to appear in court and request the judge to reduce the fine.
A co worker of mine was able to get the fine waived but she had to do 50 hours of community service. Plus she had to pay $100 in court filing fees (BS fees).
Good luck man, I am in the middle of fighting a speeding ticket myself. All these people getting tickets makes me feel like the cops are more concerned with handing out tickets than fighting crime.

BTW there's only a certain number of police on patrol to hand out tickets. The rest are actually responding to calls and whatever else comes up. But if you get a ticket, it's something you did that was illegal...so its pretty much a crime too right? But with the crappy CA budget, they are gonna hand out as many tickets as they can to keep the funds up and keep their jobs!
