My car isn't starting properly...
Alright here's the deal. When ever I depress the brake pedal and hit the ignition button, my starter would crank over for a good 3-5 seconds before my car would actually start!!! I'm no guru at cars but I know its not normal for a vehicle to do that. I tried diagnosing the problem and here is what I tried:
1. Checked my current battery voltage, reads 12.88 volts
2. Tried replacing the battery with a similar one, ran it for 2 days and still the same starting issues.
3. Changed the battery in my key fob. Same results.
I'm running out of ideas and I've tried searching the boards with no results. BTW I own a 2007 IS 350. Any owners of the same car is experiancing this problem???

if it does it so often, you should bring it to the dealer and let them deal with it. you might not be the first one.
try starting it with the other key and see what happens.

that might work, cuz if ya dont use one key for some time...like when i didnt start my car for almost three weeks, the computer in ur car may have to like recognize the key agin...i had to change both my batteries in the key and get the onboard computer to like reprogram the recognize the key...
if no, then like mardy says...let the dealers take a look and diagnose it...

sounds more like your starter is crapping out or just need to change your spark plug.
worst thing that can happen is that your gas line maybe clogged. Do you use premium gas?

12.88 is fully charged battery, i would first try use different transponder key and see what happens. other possibilities for longer cranking could be camshaft/crankshaft sensors, fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator, moisture building up within the spark plug and coil. but kinda rare for lexus to do that, ill check ALLData at work and see if i can find anything...

not sure if its related but my friend had my push button switch replaced because the 2IS been having problems with the car starting. he changed it without even telling me because he noticed the problem when I brought the car in...plus it was free so I didnt complain. I didnt even notice the problem. lol
but yeah, bring it in to the dealer...no sense fixing something that doesnt need replacing.

yo man i researched a little bit and i found that some IS350 may exhibiting extended crank time/hard starting.
most likely the ECU will need to be flash (reprogramed) it should be covered under warranty for 96 months or 80k miles, so i would just take it to the dealer and see if the ECU needs to be flashed.
and i dont work at servco, just at an independent shop in kalihi
