Ext. warranty/exterior paint protection?
Hey I picked up my wife a 2012 gx460 2wks ago from Bredemann Lexus and the finance guy was offering us extended warranty 8/75,000 ($2625.00) and exterior paint protection ($1,195.00). We didnt pick up either cause we want to shop around and make sure where not getting jipped cause I know thats where dealers make there money on new cars. Is it to much? Also, is anybody familiar with that ext. paint protection that they offer? You can have it done twice annually for the lifetime of the car. Is it just a buff and wax of the car? They say its some type of clear coat protectant.

Save your money. Any extended warranty is not an extension of the bumper-to-bumper warranty, like all salesman will say, but a third party warranty that has lots of fine print with a long claim process. As for paint, unless it's a show car, forget about it. It's like the dealer is saying that the brand new Lexus paint is crap. Save your money, don't get either.

That is expensive for an extended warranty. I was offered a warranty for another 3 years for $1800 and I turned that down. Lexus are pretty reliable and I never had much problems with mine.
What exactly is the exterior paint protection? Just some sort of sealant or is it a clear bra and that stuff?

It sounds liek the sealant they offer which is WAY overpriced. If you want a clear bra go to Rick Anstandt at www.body-skins.com He is one of the best in your area and will come to you. His clear bra rates are also very affordable... about half of what that dealership is wanting for the sealant.
