Independent Lexus Mechanic Chicago?
#76
For those of you looking for an independent mechanic (he does have a full time job during the day working on trucks), there's only one guy I would bring my cars to if I don't do the work myself.
He knows how OCD I am, and I personally vouch for him. He is "usually" most free after 1800 and that's Monday through Fridays.
Yes. He does have tools, lifts, etc. No I don't believe he has Techstream, since his day job is trucks and that's a whole different field.
I've known him for years, and couldn't think of anyone better. I WILL NOT quote pricing as this is something you'd have to discuss with him, but I can tell you he's far cheaper than a independent shop or dealer for sure, and you will not sacrifice quality one bit with him. Just about any job he can do, however big jobs, is something you'd have to discuss with him in detail.
Oil changes, water pump, fuel pump, gasket replacements, etc etc, no problem.
He does NOT mount wheels/tires. Might do LIGHT body work, but he's mainly an engine/trans/mechanical guy.
Just PM if you need or want the contact info, he is located about 10 minutes due east of the La Grange, IL area.
------
I also have a buddy that works at Lexus of Naperville, I don't go to there as I (rarely go to dealerships) deal with McGrath of Westmont (I deal with Dino ONLY from this dealership when it comes to service) since it's close to my home. PM me for his details if needed.

Hello,
And thank you for this information. I would be interested to know the name and contact information of your Lexus mechanic east of LaGrange. I’m working up to a LS430 purchase and I will need some input from a reliable mechanic. Thanks!

Looking for a recommendation for a good Lexus/Toyota mechanic or an independent service shop in the SW burbs (LaGrange/Willowbroom/Darien/Downers To Oakbrook) for the niece. She has a 2010 ES350 that needs a steering rack replaced. PM me if you prefer. Thanks!

If you guys are willing to travel a bit north a good friend of mine opened a shop about a year ago. He worked for Lexus from 2000-2017 and was a master tech and shop foreman for years.
His name is Dan Daubs. The name of the shop is Daubs garage in Richmond, 815-678-0483

Looking for Willowbrook-to Woodridge area mechanic?
It’s been a few years, hopefully thread still active. I have a 2013 GS 350. Anyone have any good recommendations on independent mechanics in the Willowbrook - Woodridge area? Includes burr ridge, hinsdale, Darien, Oakbrook. Just moved to the area, previously had the head of Lexus in Ann Arbor working on my GS out of his garage but unfortunately had to move. Thank you!

I wouldn't go to the stealerships .. there are plenty of good independent auto repair shops out there and you can ask to use OEM parts if that is a requirement ... and yes you will see a big price difference in the local shops vs the stealerships ..... support the local small businesses ... PM for a recommendation for a great local shop been around over 15 years ...
can you provide detail?
