Any shops with S2000 tuning experience?
Hey guys, does anyone know of a shop with experience tuning S2000's around Chicago/Lombard? Is it possible to tune an engine to be more efficient (i.e. better mpg)? I only have an intake. I'm not looking for speed, i have a gsxr for that...
thanks in advance!

What are you looking to tune with though? Just a SAFC or some sort of piggyback?
If its either, any shop with a dyno would be able to do the tune, look into Sound Performance for just doing a simple tune for NA.

Tuning with piggyback like VAFC is only temporary. You're going to need to give up some more information....what year is the car, how many miles on the car, and a few other things.
Most tuning shops will tune for power band, peak torque, peak hp, etc. so that's where their experience will lie.
If you're in an AP1 MY2000 or 2001, find yourself a MY2002 or 2003 ECU. Those years ECU are mapped to run the motor a little leaner. If you have a 2002 or 2003 car, get an AEM EMS and tune for efficiency (I'd try AMS in West Chicago).
If you have a 2004 or 2005, congrats, you have the most efficient box stock S2000.
Honestly, if you want a better MPG out of your non-fun car, your best bet, trade your S2000 in for an older Civic LX or better yet Civic HF. Your S2000 (namely the motor) won't like living in the lower RPM range over the course of its life, which is needed to get the higher MPGs.
With that stated, on many long road trips (Tail of the Dragon, Austin, Denver, Atlanta, Detroit, and northern WI), I've gotten 30+ mpg pretty consistently....but it took active effort to do it, a Mugen ECU, and plenty of aerodynamic aiding mods.
