there is no winter mode for my car, I took it out for a very early morning drive yesterday, watched the sunrise over Lake Michigan (North Shore area) and snapped these pics:
It was a very cold morning but watching the sun come up was more than worth it. The drive was awesome too.
Just before arriving home, I topped off the tank and put it in the garage. Oil change and general maintenance type items - I won't be out till next year.

Snow is falling now , more flurries than anything, Man I'm going to have fun driving to Wisconsin next Sunday for the baby shower...
Thankfully I have brand new Yokahama winters on my stockies this year, not like the Pirelli's I ran last year when that sudden snowstorm hit. I was spiining rubber for like 20 miles! HA!
(not fun)
be safe everyone. this winter is supposed to reach 180inches (WTF!?) according to predictions in the Farmer's Almanac as opposed to the (high 30inches) last year's prediction.
This year's winter (as well as '09s is supposed to be.. extreme.
bundle up and drive safe guys.

For Chicagoland - i think most cars do ok with snow tires but then the street conditions change when the road is plowed, then the snow tires will not be ideal and you'll have thread squirm on a bare road surface and on the highways.
A car with snow tires is a compromised machine IMHO.

I drove my 1gen IS300 for 4 years with Continental Extreme Contacts year round and did surprisingly well. I was so happy to dump the Dunlops asap on both the 1gen and 2gen.

Ha Ha,,, I am so allergic to FWD. I like the one members avatar that has FWD Sucks depicting a tri-cycle. That pretty much sums it up. Surprisingly, the ES350 is not that bad with "torque steer." Not sure how Lexus engineers combatted that.
