You may have a bad fuel pump as well. I would work with checking the ignition system first. Process of elimination is key.

i used to work at a murray's and we have on-car starter and alternator checks. so you can bring your car to any murrays and have them do a free check on your car.

It's a 93 SC300, I doubt there was anything wrong with the altenator or starter..... I believe it was ignition or fuel related...

Default battery clamps

if your battery is new, check the pos/neg clamps. clean it with a wire brush and scratch the battery post too. make the are tight.

if thats good, check that your power radio antena is draining your battery.

if thats good check your fuel filter, it may need to be replaced.

check the other end of you battery cable too. pos will go to starter, neg will go to your frame/chassis groud. check they are snug and have good contact.

hope that helps some.

thse were my problems with my daily driver 1st gen gs300.

I don't have a draining problem!! The car died during running & it just cranked & cranked & cranked but never turned on!!! The car sat for a few hour & it started right up like always... One of my friends just told me it might be the Mass air flow sensor Or the Fuel filter.... Well so far soo good, Car is running without any problems...

My guess is spark plugs. The other day when the car died, it was a colder morning. Now that the weather is warmer, it's starting up with no hesitation. Pull a spark plug from each bank...I'm willing to bet they're fouled up. The fuel you smell is probably what's sitting in the cylinders going uncombusted.

If it's an alternator issue, you'd have issues with misfiring, lumpy idle, and then eventually no ignition at all.

If it's your battery/alternator, look for other symptoms like dimming gauge cluster, headlight brightness dimming dependant on engine speed.

If it's your fuel rail, check your temp gauge. The engine could start running hot if the motor isn't getting the fuel it needs.

If it's your MAF sensor, you'd notice a big change in how the car accelerates when it's cold.

Also, search on fuel pump ECU in SC section, and how to bypass in case it does it again. I believe when it overheats it stops to work..
