I was on my way back from Mike's (Passnu2) house got about 5 miles from home and it started DOWNPOURING!!! Luckly i made it home before the storm really picked up. It was a nasty one thats for sure, lights flickered a few times, didnt drop power tho.
I was driving from Morton Grove to Schaumburg WOW i have never driven in rain so hard and by the time i got on 290 the rain was blowin sideways thank god no hail that would have been bad.
I ordered all the kids into the basement because the strong winds pushed my patio furniture around like it was nothing .I will be giving my insurance agent a call tommorow to discuss my coverage, those lightning strikes are no joke I was afraid that my house was going to get hit !!!
Yea I was out all night in Lockport. Thats where my first assignment was and the weather was CRAZY out there. I tried taken some pics but I had people behind me that were driving like crazy probably trying to beat the storm home. I was sitting in this fancy subdivision waiting out the storm so I could work and I seriously thought I was gonna have to ditch the truck in case of a tornado. Last nites lighting was pretty sweet. Kind of reminded me of the newer version of War of the Worlds. When I left lemont the street lights were completely out. I came up on this big intersection and I stopped to check for cars. I saw one coming from my right and I figured they would be smart enough to stop but they didnt and damn near t-boned me. Luckily there was a cop right there and he hauled *** after the other person. My gfs roommate whos a civil engineer got called in at like 4 this morning so Im guessing some stuff got jacked up.
Yes, that was an amazing supercell that crossed over the Chicagoland area. I drove home shortly after the damage wreaked havoc on the power grids on rt. 83.
I work down in the city, and let me tell you, when that front moved through Chicago around 7AM it was nasty. Probably the most ominous looking clouds and storm I have ever seen. It was literally green clouds rolling through and it was so windy, the clouds were rolling everywhere. I was waiting for a twister to drop down right in the loop. Hope everybody is OK and didn't have any damage. Our construction site had some pretty bad water damage.
Dang...so this was the cause of my 2+ hour delay to Fargo, ND.
I'm glad it rained, the grass needed some water and the wife's truck needed a good wash. I should have had her pull the GS out of the garage and soap it down while it was raining.
Dang, sounds like I missed a good rain. Hope everyone made it out without any damage to their cars!
