Am I completely insane?

Your concern makes sense. Having 2 cars, especially when they are similar in many ways (sedan, luxury, autos, not quite MPG friendly, heavy, etc. etc.), it's a redundant. Personally if I were to have 2 cars, I would love to have an Exige plus a GS. That would be perfect.
For only 1 car, I would stay away from the Audi. Some people might have good luck with them, but MAJORITY of people I know who own them have minor and major problems even in the first couple years of ownership. Go with the TSX 6spd. It's boring stock, but once modified the handling is just unreal.
Look at the World Challenge TC class and other Group N series in Asia and Europe, the TSX is always on the podium.

A good buddy of mine who is an Acura tech tells me to stay away from the TSX. It's pretty cheaply made & he said i'm MUCH better off with an '04+ TL.
I came REALLY close to picking up an '07 VW GTI today. Blk/blk leather w/ a nice factory body kit. I am SO impressed with the way they drive. So far it's come down to that or an '06 Mini Cooper S. It's been way too hard tracking down an A3 s-line.

I love the new GTI, especially the 4dr for more practicality. Personally I would choose it over the Mini S. I thought the A3 is in a totally different price range (like 8K to 10K more)?

I know, i know! I'm the biggest opponent to anything but Japanese cars. The trend with me lately has been to not keep my cars more than 2-3 years. I'm figuring that the bumper to bumper warranty will cover me for all of the possible issues that may arise. I wish there was a Jap car with the same driving feel of these German ones!
You can find a used A3 2.0t anywhere from $20-$29k. It's just that the loaded up sport package ones are so hard to find!
