One of the basic foundations of a premium product is attention to detail. Do the engines of the 2023 Lexus RX and NX look like a premium product to you? To me, an engineer with over 30 years of experience, they look like a mess, with zero planning, poor system design, and terrible execution. For comparison, see the engines of their closest German competitors: AUDI Q5, BMW X3 and Mercedes GLC.
Even KIA, Hyundai or VW, which do not pretend to be a premium product, do a much better job. Telluride, Palisade, Tiguan - mass produced, affordable SUVs which look much more "premium" than Lexus products costing 30-50% more.
I doubt the typical person who purchases those vehicles will ever, even one time, open the hood, and even if they did, I highly doubt they would realize or care that some components were left uncovered.
Of all the things to complain about, this just isn’t one of them.
ps, you should see what that Audi looks like under that engine cover
I’m an engineer too. I’d never judge the quality or technology of an engine by its looks.
Engine layout speaks volumes about attention to detail. Do these cable terminations look good to you? These are from my wife's 2023 NX 350h. Thin cables left rubbing against sharp edge of a plastic conduit. Sure, some terminations are well done, wrapped with tape to prevent rubbing and keep moisture out. But about 20% of them are of unacceptable quality, not even in the cheapest of cars, much less in a car from a brand that claims high quality.

They no doubt did qualification testing, and clearly they passed. So no, they would not bother me.
