Here's the other side of the story the way I see it, just my thoughts...

The tuners and enthusiasts won't be very impressed, not much to tinker with.
The journey to get to sub 10 second cars is what it's all about, taking something stock and creating a track runner or building up what you have.

Back in the day we were never impressed with the rich kids bringing down their new high dollar sports cars but the guys running 20 year old mustangs who bored and stroked and blue printed their engines, roller rocker and camming, headers, and getting that car to push it's upper limits got crazy respect.
ABSOLUTELY Correct... Except now the "rich kids (and even non rich kids or adults), bringing their new high dollar sports cars" has been replaced with EVs.

Deleted a post (and a reply to said post) that was both inappropriate and off topic.

Everyone please stay on topic, which is straight-line performance, and keep the tone civil.

I can read, that's not what you first claimed.

Then don't read problem solved, don't see how posts like this move the conversation forward.

It is very rare to see a 9 second car at any price a reliable one even more rare. I think we can all agree Tesla is punching far above its weight class.

Not sure I agree. We as a group, the most active at least pretty much know where most of the rest of us stand.

There's nothing to virtue signal about ICE cars.

What, that the Plaid cools the battery for flat out drag racing when you put it into cheetah mode?

Please show me a legit, non biased link to temps so low a driver has to "warm up" the battery and I'll gladly admit I'm wrong. 99% time the car is cooling the battery for prep at drag strips.

Battery pack does not need to be as cool as possible, this is simply wrong. From what I've read ideal battery temp is ~100 degrees. The pack may be over or under that could easily be under if the car was parked and you take it out to do a run.

This is really tit for tat. 100 degrees isn't really that hot compared to fluids in ICEs. Purportedly these cars can do lots of consistent (insane) runs, I'd say keeping it at only 100 degrees is pretty impressive....and that's going to activate the cooling system for the batteries.

Can you show me a drag race where a Plaid has to warm the battery up? Because all I've seen is them cooling, when prepping for Cheetah launch at least.

I've watched dozens of Plaid drag races don't recall seeing the battery temp on screen. Don't care anymore at this point. The vids are awesome though.

I love the way those accelerate it's just STUPID. A Plaid should race a commercial jet or F-14 to 150mph, that would be a fun article/video.

I don't like how they're shoved down my throat but I'm coming around a little to EVs though I'll still never want one. I can't deny the new Hummer is absolutely sick. Like I said, if I were filthy rich I'd have a Plaid (among many other cars) as part of my fleet just for giggles and insanity.
