I was planning on having the engine mounts replaced, they can get at the lower oil pan then I think. Hopefully its not the upper. Maybe just seals leaking on steering rack.
I got this from Arizona knowing I could put some money into it and not have it rust to pieces. I also planned on doing some stuff my self, like valve cover gasket if it can wait till next summer.
Some one mentioned it but parts are kinda hard (some) to find. But then you can get a steering rack from autozone for 200 bucks with lifetime warranty. But for engine and tranny Im going OEM, 400 bucks.
Like Jill said, the car is 17 years old, door actuators and leaks here and there are just not an issue, nor really is the car's history as long as it runs and drives well.

I'v heard of folks here going a year with a leaking rack and not have to put in fluid. Same for pan, just a seep leak really slow. I planned on doing stuff to it, Im just pissed because dealer said everything was fine, used car dealer. At least not rust up here is gold.

so you bought the car sight unseen? it doesn't seem too bad to me, but get your eyes on it and pass it thru a fine toothed comb and report back with your true impressions.

I did buy it sight unseen, something I never would do if I wasn't in the health situation Im in. Havent driven really since may and needed a car here so I could try to venture out small steps. I checked all service records and it was maintained by lexus its whole life. I will report back.
When I talked to the service manager he said it drove great but it was the door actuators, they couldnt find new ones only used on ebay and they couldnt sell a car from the dealership like that. I'm also going to do such little driving, hospital, groceries, cvs, it might not even matter, the leaks.

Those fancy doors actuators are great…until they break. Waste of money to replace them.

The steering rack will get progressively get worse, but not by much. Then all of sudden it will just leak bad. You should just replace it now. I honestly wonder if they still make OEM LS430 steering racks.

Nothing fancy about the door actuators, its just what locks and unlocks the doors. Lexus/Toyota door actuators are notorious for failires.

Yea Ill lock it manually if I have to or disassemble actuators and replace little motor. I can get a manufactured rack with inner tie rods for 200 bucks from rock auto. Its the engine mounts first though, maybe they could do them at the same time, rack and lower oil pan maybe. Theres also a possibility I cant drive at all so I dont want to dump a ton of money into it yet. Thats why I bought it to give my self the best fighting chance of driving again. I could have gotten a Buick but all the new cars drive to hard. The oil pan gasket, Im not sure if its both and the valve cover gasket worry me too. But Ill cross that bridge when I get there. In some ways I kick myself for getting this car but they all have these issues at this mileage.
