Oh I know! I really wasn't joking. Earlier this year, some dealers were selling Civic Si 's for $88k. I FULLY expect to see both the Civic R and GRC to be at $100k at some slimy dealers.

If I could get a Core model for sticker that’d be nice. I’ve been looking at the regular Corolla hatch and used 2019’s with 40k miles for $30,000+. They’re not even 6-speed manuals either. Plus, the 6-speed version is getting discontinued after 2022 for the regular Corolla hatch.

For the top trim, exactly 200, because that's how many will be available. Overall, 6500, because that's how many will be available.

The comparison between the Morizo Edition and the Type R is a little silly, as the former is a literal racecar. No rear seats, speakers, or even window regulators (meaning 2nd row windows do not roll down), tons of extra chassis bracing, custom suspension, monoblock calipers, race buckets, Cup2 tires, etc.

The Core is what competes most directly with the Type R, and the dual LSDs, leather interior, premium audio and forged carbon roof (among other things) seem like worthwhile upgrades to justify the price delta for the launch Circuit edition.

Because 50k is 50k. It's a corolla, it's not anymore useable day to day than a 2 door since it's so tiny and it claims sporting aspirations so why not put it up against a 300hp 911? Price is the most important factor after usefulness, a truck is unfair to compare against since the corolla can't do even half of what it can but a 911 sure as hell can do the same job.

Why would you even race a 911 against the GR? They cannot be more different.

It's funny that so many people are focusing on the top model at $50k. The bulk of these will be the Core at less than $40k. The $50k version will be extremely limited in numbers. The fact that they are even offering this here is wonderful, it's likely to undercut the Civic Type R in entry level pricing, plus it has a variable AWD system rather than the Civic's FWD.

Though I'll concede that ADMs will completely invalidate the MSRP comparisons.

It's like someone saying I'll get a RR or Bentley for $150k over an S-Class. What are we even talking about or comparing here?

I think even at $50k is a great deal for a car of this type. Limited production with racing technology and it will most certainly not sell in high volumes. Sure you can spend $50k on a Supra with 1 extra cylinder, but then you get a BMW with a Toyota badge.

I’m on the list to get one and I’m excited. Not sure why we are doing the 50!?k, I could buy XYZ vehicle for that lol. Cars are just insane money and will on continue to go up in price. If a fully loaded Camry is about 40k, why would this car being a performace car not cost more?.
