I will watch it tomorrow as I’ve considered the base “poor man’s” Taycan, except it’s no faster than our Y and slower than my previous S (in a straight line at least). If I want a fast Porsche EV then realistically I’m looking at minimum $100K. Well, that won’t be happening anytime soon as next car we buy will be for our daughter. Someday maybe. Always wanted a Porsche…and an NSX…and an Aston Martin Vanquish…and a McLaren F1…and an SR-71 Blackbird, LOL.

there's more to driving than straight line speed. imo, and respectfully to you and your Y, any taycan will be a thousand times more enjoyable to drive than a tesla. refinement, handling, build quality, quietness when cruising, a gauge cluster, ha! porsches are just amazing.

True, the handling will expectedly be amazing. While build quality is still a challenge for Tesla, we were fortunate that the S and Y were both very good examples. The S had some paint issues that needed to be addressed but panel alignment was good.
I have been reading in the Taycan forums and there are quite a few reports of buggy software that many owners willingly accept and overlook. Reports of screens blanking out, the car not turning on, languages changing. Tesla body gaps are one thing but at least the car works. I would still love a Taycan but poor software would sour the experience too. Alas, at least software is correctable through updates.
One thing is for sure, the layout of the Taycan forums seems very cluttered and disorganized compared to ClubLexus and the Tesla forum. Has nothing to do with the car but it’s not an enjoyable experience sifting through their online community.

I'll just agree here. The Tycan will run circles on the S and Y on a track. Plus the build quality, suspension setup etc is going to be amazing. To be honest with you, on a track I would rather be driving something with lower power I can push to the limit and not die

I have not been to a track before, but as the saying goes, “never say never”. I don’t plan to track any of our cars but maybe a Taycan will make me want to.

A lower power car lets you learn faster and better, something with too much power turns you into a point and shoot style drivers with little finesse and less willingness to feel the car out at the limit of grip since it is so easy to spin it.
