If it's not affordable, then that's an issue with the product. Certainly not the state's fault. Anything can be "affordable" if you can get someone else to pay for part of it. The truth is that it isn't really cost effective, it just appears that way to people who purchase because of market intervention. Gasoline could be dirt cheap if you remove the fed taxes and issue tax credits for it.

It's hundred percent the states fault. That's why we pay taxes, to get something in return. I want my tax money to work for me, and my state makes solar work for me and others like me. Solar is a very good source for production of clean energy, it covers all my needs plus generates a surplus. I don't understand arguing against clean energy, especially if it's renewable, and comes from a source that rises every morning....

Then keep all federal funds out of it so others aren't forced to subsidize something they would never pay for.

Whatever subsidies from my solar was 100 percent from the state. Zero federal. That said, my state pays the majority of federal taxes so I think we have some say. Anyway, let's move on from this subject so it doesn't get political

Well, that's how oil companies make their money, by selling it on the international market. They wouldn't make money supplying just the US. As far as Bob's statement: "Gasoline could be dirt cheap if you remove the fed taxes and issue tax credits for it", gasoline is only cheap here because it's subsidized by the US government. The tax is added to already subsidized pricing. Otherwise we would be paying the same prices as Europe and Canada (in Canada it's $7.154 per Gallon)

We are talking about way more than cars here when it comes to fossil fuels. All kinds of stuff non car related come from them.

Which makes it all the more insane to burn a precious resource that is used to make so many things we rely on.
