What I found really interesting is he could remove the speed limiter...

Got back from trying mine, Audi has a slightly different method than MB. Essentially mine stays in high beams and just totally turns off the "slice" where another car is oncoming and keeps a lower cutoff for a car in front of me.

Way better than the normal mode, huge improvement in coverage while not blinding other people. It now ties the 460 in high mode but without the annoyance to others so it wins overall

These systems have a long way to go with future improvements. Now that the ban in the US has been lifted, they will come out with more complex matrix and more precise adjustments.

Just got back from my second drive...really cool...I drove out the ICC to Olney, which is a divided highway with no streetlights at all, and then drove back on the backroads. Well worth it.

Its the same, I'm just not describing it well and you likely have darker roads with less traffic. Pretty amazing how precise that slice is...its so trim around the car ahead its hard to even notice that the cutoff is so much lower on it...

For sure, tons of potential there.

Yeah I have a tunnel of 60-100 ft trees behind my place that loops around Alum Creek and a bridge over the lake I usually drive as my "test loop" and it's very dark at night with a area that has a massive deer risk. The bridge is long enough for 155ish in the A8 and limiter on the other cars.

I'm impressed how seamless it is, if I was not actively looking for it it would just seem like I was running highs the whole time. I'm shocked this wasn't standard.....my old auto highs never were this effective at preventing glare to other people and lord does this react faster! I should have activated these when I got the car lol! Thanks for making this thread man, got me to go actually check it

This also somewhat complicates my current thought of trading out of my 15 4.0 for a 13 S8, I was already kind of so so on it since I would lose the HUD but this system is impressive enough I think I will have to remain in a 15+ Dang it lol!

Yes, it seems totally natural...

No problem!

Like I said, the real test for me will be when I go to WV again in July. Now I want to wait and drive at night lol

How do I like posts? I need to start sending you likes for this lol!

We usually night drive since it's just nicer with less people and WAY easier to spot ahead for the passenger, I'm sure that everyone else will "love" going late for you to really test out your lights lol!

Amazing, its really amazing that all of that technology was just sitting in the car turned off.

Its hard right around here to find places where its dark enough to really get the full benefit, and there is light enough traffic. Och is totally right that where I really will appreciate these is in WV, where these will shine is on a dark highway where I can have highbeams on my side and not blind oncoming drivers, and on a dark country road where they will just isolate the periodic oncoming cars. I'm going to go back out around say 11:30 when the roads are less busy.

Couple things, the car still turns high beams off and on. So, you really have to be above say 35-40MPH, and it has to be dark enough for the high beams to trigger (that threshhold is now less dark than it was when the highs were just on and off). If you're traveling say on a road with cars in front of you, essentially you have high beams to the sides, and low beams dead ahead, if that makes sense. So you have the height and additional light throw to the sides that you have with high beams. If you then have an oncoming car you'll see it fade down that side and then fade it right back up when the car passes. As your distance from the cars ahead of you increases you will see it slowly start to bring that cutoff up to where its always along the top of those car's rear bumpers.

Even low beams though, I feel like the illumination to the sides is better.

Very satisfied. Anybody who has these, you should have them activated. I'll post more thoughts after my second ride.
Congrats!!! This is so cool!!! 👍👍

Something to keep in mid, when traveling on dark roads its pretty exciting to watch how the light behaves, which can be very distracting. Probably not an issue once the novelty wears out.

I have actually gotten distracted by the lights a few times. I love watching it do its thing. My husband is definitely annoyed at me saying "Did you see how it did that?!" several times during night time drives on backroads.

Hahahahaha! You should have seen the look on my wife's face as I was describing how it worked after my drive last night. Classic.
