All the european carmakers do, BMW, Audi etc all the same way, it can be activated its just shut off for the US. There are tons of things you can activate.
For instance, he could have activated the AMG cluster with the 200 MPH Speedo, I declined:
‘It’s funny people think Tesla is far ahead on this stuff and changes. Your car is all software. All there.. just needs to be unlocked.
If you went with AMG display. Could you swap back easy? Or does the tech need to come back.
No, thats why I didn't do it. It would replace my standard classic gauge display. If I could swap between the two I would have done it. Essentially he tells the instrument display that the car is an S63.

Every modern car with an ECU has various programming capabilities. A lot of features are locked out unless you pay for them....or you have the software and hardware to activate them. Many of us that own 2nd Gen IS350's have installed Power Steering ECU's from ISF's so that we can get better steering response, and of course they need to be programed to work so you need software like Techstream to calibrate the ECU

Makes sense. That’s too bad you can’t just add it without deleting the old one.
Only issue I see so far is you leave the high beams on all the time, which I don’t care for because it puts the turn signal just out of natural finger reach with your hand on the wheel. I’ll get used to that.
I only paid $100 to get this done on my BMW, using my own laptop. I could have probably done it myself for free, I've done coding on my old BMWs before and I still have an XP laptop than had all the software. But I would have to upgrade all the software, torrent latest versions, etc, just not worth the bother.
This thread reminds me, my daughter is coming over this weekend, I'll have to remember to get it done on her M2.

Are you sure thats how it works? On BMW it only works when high beams are in auto mode, not manually on.
