Drove a 488 a while back but not on a track; wonderful car with adequate power and superior handling. The GT3 just because…. The C8 to see if it stacks up to all the hype.
Was able to push an LC500 around Laguna Seca few years back and while a great, fun experience was disappointed by the car (tranny over heated and shutdown the car).
Well we did it and what a day it was! We both took the ride along for three hot laps in the wide body SRT Hellcat Charger with a pro driver. Wow! The sound, the acceleration, the brakes! Yeah brakes. They all have rotors the size of serving platters and the calipers are huge! The only non OEM parts on the cars were racing pads.. The tires were marvelous. My son took the Supersnake GT500 for his three laps. Man, what a roar it made. He loved it. The had one Mustang, one Audi A10, one Z51 Vette, one Cayman, two 911 GT3 RS Porsches with twin turbo flat sixes, four twin turbo V8 Ferrari 488 GTBs and four AWD V10 Huracans. I took the Lambo out first. All of them had 7 or 8 speed dual clutch trannys. I love DCTs! The Lambo seemed to have heavier steering compared to the others, AWD difference maybe? Cornering in it was neck snapping. The instant grunt was amazing and the pro driver with me was no killjoy! I managed a pass on a Ferrari which was great, passing under hard acceleration on the outside coming into a hard right hander and late braking, then head for the apex and BOOM hit the gas as I straightened out.
Next was the Ferrari. Manoman! When the turbos kick in, what a sound, what a rush!. Upshifts and especially downshifts under power felt like someone just rear ended me. I loved it! Can’t keep the go pedal down long though as I had to brake and take a corner. Three laps aren’t enough. Managed another pass, this time on a Porsche. Surprising to come across other cars going slow, well, not really slow but slower than I was. Speed and G forces is what we paid for.
Last up was the twin turbo flat six Porsche. It seemed lighter to turn than the others but actually they all weighed about the same. Still, it seemed easier to drive. Didn’t miss the reduced cylinders either. That flat six has a definite BOOM when the turbos kick in as well. What a raspy sound and instant acceleration! Very satisfying. Was a great day.
Wait, isn’t the GT3 RS a naturally aspirated flat 6?
They told us it was a four liter flat six with twin turbos netting somewhere between 6 and 700 horsepower. The BOOM when you hit the gas was quite similar to the twin turbo Ferrari. Having said that, the BOOM from the Lambo was also quite similar!

I’ve never heard of a factory GT3 with a turbo engine. If it is turboed it’s a GT2.
