Also, Austin will only have 4680 Model Ys. They will not build 2170 versions from that factory.
You sure? Don't know if that is good or bad news.

It was in their Q4 Earnings Call. They aren't producing any 2170 Model Ys from that factory.

That doesn't actually say there will be no 2170 cells in cars coming out of Texas. Also:
Tesla has been producing the cell in volume at a facility known as Kato Road near the company’s Fremont factory in Northern California.
Not correct Kato Road is a pilot plant not designed for high volume. It is more accurate to say being produced in low volume. And since AFAIK Texas is not currently producing 4680's that means either relatively low volume of Y's out of Texas or 2170 packs.

Either way Berlin will be using 2170's, when they start making 4680's don't know.

Its a big pilot plan and has decent volume for low volume cars. The Texas facility needs to be certified to produce 4680 and in the last earnings call, they said it was over 90% done. From all of the news i've heard, the Model Y line in Austin was designed for the 4680 and structural chassis for now. I did hear that they may build LFP versions of the Model Y there though. It will take time to get to volume of course but people have been delaying orders so that they can get the new 4680 packs from Austin.

This is great, my Tesla stocks are up again. Wonder how they are getting their supply of batteries to fullfill the needs of the new factories.

Tesla is making deals with the raw material suppliers and have been for awhile. They are really leaps and bounds ahead of all the other OEMs in terms of understanding the EV supply chain.

That's absolutely true, but they are also leaps and bounds behind in quality and fixing issues. My friend who just recently bought a Model 3 just leased another car, my wife asked his wife why they got another car when they just got the Model 3 last year, and she said it's alway in the Tesla service center! I guess it's one of the Friday cars you guys were talking about

I'd say a good ~10% of the cars are Friday afternoon cars that get a lot of issues. Most of the cars get an issue or two only. I've had 1 issue since ownership in the first month (FM module went out) but haven't had any other issues (knock on wood) since. I will say that I have a couple rattles (again, not the best quality) but it goes away after driving it a bit or its hot

I'm hoping the new mega casting techniques improve quality. For now, i've almost hit my 3rd year and I can honestly say the car is much much better than when I first bought it through all the constant OTA updates. Can't really say that with many other cars out there

I hope as well because when I replace our Sienna in the next 2 to 3 years I may do so with a Model X if they are still around. My boss has had his almost 8 years and hasn't had any major issues

Tesla is the best managed car manufacturer in the world. Look how they managed the semicomductor chip shortage. They are teaching other companies about vertical integration.
And people love their Teslas, warts and all. I will buy another.

^^^ amazing. that's great fpv flying, some great editing, and obviously great coordination with the production line!
the last part (2:34 on) coming out of the factory had me guessing for a minute but i think that video is being played backwards.

What an amazing video. Wow. Looks like they built a state-of-the art factory. Lets hope they can bring some of that famous German precision to their cars and make them better.
