So @EZZ this is the charging station I see Tesla's use at Electrify America

It way smaller than the CSS 150 kW chargers

Thats not a Tesla plug. The Tesla plug is way smaller. Its a chademo plug i think. Teslas have chademo adapters so can use it.

Sorry, you are correct, this is what they use (the blue plug):

The EA chargers have both connectors

Those are some big plugs. I like how small the Tesla plug is. Do any of you know if the refreshed Tesla Model S plug is different or is it just the charger door? I thought I read that the plug was different and if so, hopefully it isn’t big like that.

I don't know about the new Tesla plug, but the CSS charger cable is a bit of a pain. The cable is thick and heavy and hard to twist, and you have to use a little bit of coordination and force to get it in the port. You also have to make sure the locking mechanism engages before letting go. Once you figure it out it become pretty easy to use

that is CHAdeMO (you can still eMO) from your image. you see Tesla using those because there is an adapter. there is no EA charging station that has native Tesla plug (that I'm aware of)

Yeah, I know about the adapter. I think only Nissan Leaf and Mitsubishi Outlander use CHAdeMO, because other than Tesla, I've only seen Leaf's using that connector

Plug is same in North America. They aren't going to the big plugs anytime soon. The Tesla plugs are just waaaaaaay better. CCS was developed by committee and it shows. It's a craptastic design. Try plugging in both and you'll see the differences. At the time, you can tell the Tesla engineers were years ahead of the CCS crew.

It's not that bad. And it's free. Just don't get the cable twisted!

Try the Tesla one...way better. There are articles out there comparing the history of the two and why Tesla's design is so much better. Almost everything designed by committee is usually worse and that was the case here. Eventually, Tesla may have to adapt to CCS because its the standard but there is nothing about CCS that is better than the Tesla plug.

Start-ups generally do things much better because they think out of the box. They look to streamline and make things more efficient while committee is like a giant corp with everyone trying to push their ideas. Since CSS is used for Level 3 fast charging, I only have to deal with it when doing longer hauls. With Level 2 home charging, the cables are smaller and lighter and the connector very easy to use

AMIRZA786 - I moved yours and related posts about electrify America out of the plaid thread as they're not about that vehicle.
