Hyundai Motor America Reports Record-Breaking Retail February 2022 Sales

Retail Sales Increased 19%; Most February Retail Sales of All Time
FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., March 1, 2022 – Hyundai Motor America reported total February sales of 52,424 units, an 8% increase compared with February 2021. Tucson (+37%), Palisade (+17%) and Venue (+16%) established new February total sales records. Hyundai did not have any fleet sales for the second month in a row.
“Our recent marketing efforts with Tucson and IONIQ 5 have worked well to generate awareness in competitive segments,” said Randy Parker, senior vice president, national sales, Hyundai Motor America. “Shoppers are recognizing our award-winning SUV line-up and we intend to keep the momentum and market share gains going.”
February Retail Highlights
Hyundai achieved its best February retail sales ever, increasing 19% year-over-year. Hyundai eco-friendly vehicle retail sales grew 278%, while SUV retail sales were up 32%, representing 77% of retail volume. Tucson, Palisade and Venue also set new February retail records.

Monthly highlights include sales of Kia’s EV models marking their best-ever monthly performance and shattering the previous record set in September 2021 by 181-percent. In addition, sales of the Niro line of electrified crossovers saw a 40-percent increase over the model line’s best-ever February sales total set in 2017. The Telluride and K5 also broke previous model-specific February sales records by 13- and 5-percent, respectively.
“Kia continues to outpace the industry and ‘charge ahead’ with the shift toward electrified vehicles as sales of our range of electric, hybrid and plug-in hybrid models continued to break records and now make up 13-percent of our sales,” said Eric Watson, vice president, sales operations, Kia America. “With first-month sales of the all-electric Kia EV6 exceeding 2,100 units we are confident that even more consumers considering their own shift to electrified vehicles will now consider Kia.”

SUBARU OF AMERICA, INC. REPORTS FEBRUARY SALES RESULTS
Best February ever for Crosstrek
Subaru of America, Inc. (SOA) today reported 44,866 vehicle sales for February 2022, a 7.1 percent decrease compared with February 2021 (48,300). Semiconductor shortages and supply chain issues continue to impact manufacturers across the automotive industry, including SOA.

In February, Crosstrek was the top performer by volume and achieved its best February ever with 14,476 vehicle sales. Ascent sales for February 2022 increased 12.2 percent, while Impreza sales increased 30 percent compared to February 2021. BRZ sales for February 2022 increased 95 percent compared to the same month in 2021.

Within the first 72 hours of opening the reservation system, ready-to-purchase customers filled nearly all reservations for the 2023 Subaru Solterra.
Volvo Car USA reports continued growth of Recharge sales in February

MAHWAH, NJ (March 2, 2022) Volvo Car USA reported 6,219 cars sold in February 2022 despite continued supply constraints. Demand for Volvo cars remained strong and the brand’s Recharge models closed out the month up 62 percent over the same period last year.
Sales of the company’s Recharge models – cars with a fully electric or plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain – represented 27 percent of total sales nationwide. In California, Recharge models accounted for a record 66.5 percent of total sales in the state, 3 percent more than January 2022.
Overall, the Volvo Car Americas region reported 7,828 cars sold for the month. Volvo Car Canada saw a year-over-year sales increase of 4.1 percent. A total of 2,308 Recharge models were sold in the Americas region and represented 29.5 percent of total volume.
