Mercedes A-Class axed in U.S.
I'm surprised it took them this long. CLA will still be around though.
Mercedes-Benz to Kill Off A-Class Sedan for U.S. Market
A-Class - $33,950
GLA - $36,400
CLA - $38,200
Looks like they want the CLA and GLA to to be their entry level offerings now. I always thought the A-Class and CLA were a bit redundant.

The A-class sedan was actually selling quite well in its first year, but supply was dramatically cut in 2021 as it is the least profitable model and the chip shortage had them funneling their supply elsewhere. Ola is generally trying to get Mercedes out of low-margin vehicles and this market was an easy market to exit for the A-class without impacting profit much.
The CLS might actually live out the rest of its lifecycle as it sells at a premium compared to the equivalent E-class. It only has 2 years left.

One more small sedan overwhelmed by the small-crossover market.
To be honest, though, I don't think we will be missing that much. It was (by Mercedes standards) somewhat of an El Cheapo product that was never really intended for the American market.

A class was a cute car. Both sedan and hatch. Still can’t believe Mercedes has two FWD sedans
Also thing some of the A class models were made on Mexico. Anyway, agree that MB should have nothing below the C-class as it just cheapens the brand.

The CLS53 has already been killed off for the U.S. market, so I have my doubts that the CLS will survive for much longer. Those who want a more premium E-Class would spring after the AMG GT 4-Door, which the CLS sits awkwardly between, especially now that the 4 Door offers the GT43.
This isn't just about cross overs. The A-Class is a really small car. For the money an A-Class costs, once you add a few options, a loaded Accord/Camry/etc. makes a lot more sense. Frankly, the A-Class is just a dilution of the MB brand.
