Have you ever seen how sloppy and crooked some of these dealers slap their dealer logo on the back of cars? There's no way I would want the dealer doing this.
Well, we don't live in a perfect world. But I've also seen them mess up at the factory. In some of the old Chrysler plants, cars were known to roll off the assembly line with Dodge trim on one side and Plymouth on the other LOL.
Speaking of the dealer-logos, I'll agree with you on that. I wish dealerships didn't automatically do that on every new vehicle they get in stock, but they do....and it can cause problems when they sometimes trade with other dealerships for vehicles in request.
Understood, but that wasn't quite what I was getting at. My suggestion was to build the vehicles at the plant without the logo, and let the dealerships add them at delivery-time for those customers who want them.
I think the reason this is a terrible idea is pretty obvious lol. Lexus wants their vehicles to display their branding...because thats advertising.

Well, then, if it is so terrible an idea, then what's the point of this entire thread to start with? The thread (and the OP article posted with it) deals with pretty much that......Lexus not using the "L" logos at the factory any more, and relying only on lettering. Buick, as a matter of fact, started something like a couple of years ago (2019), but actually in reverse....not using the BUICK lettering, but only the red/white/blue tri-shield.

Yeah, and many of us are saying that decision is foolish. How you get from a change in badging to making badging optional is beyond me.
You just don't think about the business realities in these situations. Carmakers need people to see a car on the road they like and know what kind of car it is...and there has to be badging for that to happen.

Not a problem for me. The second I get home with a car with a dealer's logo on the back I take it right off. It is literally the first thing I do.

same for the lic plate frame they add on there as well. more easily removed than a dealer applied sticker/emblem on paint!
i wasn't aware the rear badge change was across the lineup. i only saw the new NX yesterday and it had the same lettering as the new LX so i figured thus.

I've never bought a car off a used car lot or dealership but I think I'd bring up them removing any sticker/emblem they added to the car towards the end of negotiation.
The worst offender is the front plate mounts. I hate the way front plates look unless the bumper was designed for it like a LS400

I always make the dealer remove their adhesive names

Sometimes you can do it yourself (I've done it) if you are careful and use very light pressure with the blade so you don't scratch the clearcoat paint.
