The Lexus badge isn't "changing". They just won't put it on the rear of the car, using "L E X U S" spelled out instead. Porsche did the same thing years ago.

I don't recall a time where Porsche ever put their badge in the rear of their car. They have spelled out Porsche on the back at various times in their history though.

I saw this the other day...all models.

Bad move, that "LEXUS" print is and the font is prestigious. The L is very prestigious, too.

More reason I don't think we will see another LS, I can't see many sedans sporting this.

I don't like this because it screws up the continuity of the "LEXUS" classic print on my old LS.

Porsche has always had PORSCHE written out on the back of their cars. It was either in the taillight bar or as an emblem.

I don't think Volvo ever had their badge on the rear.
They also had V O L V O centered on the trunklid for over 20 years now.
Before that, I believe it was located on the left.

Hmm. I guess you are right. I thought they used to have their logo.

100%. The brand is getting dull in America once again. They need to do something a little different branding wise as they move into battery electric cars...

A lot of folks in the Air Cooled Porsche community like to mod their cars, could just a modded one you saw.

I think considering how iconic Porsche shapes tend to be, especially the 911, badging isn't all that important anyway.

Designing excellent and compelling products would be where I would start.

given how ugly many of their earlier cars were, i don't think it mattered.

Call it ugly if you want (styling is subjective)....but you could actually SEE out of them....and that classic two-box design is pure space-efficiency.

As for the logos, most people who bought those older Volvos were probably of the type and personality that they didn't care much about logos or lettering. Ralph Nader's old friend Joan Claybrook, for example, who ran the NHTSA during the 70s "Malaise" years, drove Volvos like that for a long time....safety was her top priority.

LOL. It’s pretty ugly. But really functional. I bet those Volvos were superior to the stuff today.

there is one Volvo that is two doors with a weird rear window hatch I really like. No idea the name of it

I totally agree with you on that and I would have never driven a Volvo back in the day.

No strong feelings on this change for me either way. I do wish they used the traditional LEXUS font, though.
