Escort Passport 8500 saved me 4 times in the last 2 weeks!
After a long time of not owning a radar detector i finally broke down and bought one about 3 months ago.
For the longest time i was wondering if it really worked that great...and after i bought it, there was never any cops around on the highways..so i never knew.. until these past 2 weeks.
We went down to Kansas City 1 week ago..and on the way back (my friends following in their car and some other car following them)..we were drivin bout 90 on I-80...it was about 50 mins out of the city, and the highway was a little hilly, as i passed this semi the radar went off on KA band then went away...i figured it might be the semi's radar detector, but i decided to slow down a little. Speed limit was 70mph. I slowed to 85mp... and then the radar went off again on KA and went away...then i figured i better slow down..so i slowed to 78mph... for the next 1-2 mins it kept comin on and goin away...then, in the opposite direction, a missouri state trooper went by...just as he was approachin us...the radar went full KA again. I was really impressed by how much time the detector gave me...
Now, just today i was comin back from minneapolis...drivin to des moines, ia. The IA troopers use X band radar...
The speed limit in iowa is 65mp,...i was drivin 85mp...1 car was following me.... all of a sudden the X band went off..then dissappeared...and as we all know, there are corn fields all over, so you rarely get a false alarm.... i slowed down to 74mp. For the next 30-45 secs..the k band was goin on and off..getting stronger..then here comes the trooper on the opposite side...phew...
So then i speed back up to 85 again...and 2 minutes later...the radar goes off again...so i slow back down and here comes the second trooper about 40 secs after the first warning went off.
Then 10 miles later, KA band goes off and goes away... and cycles on and off...about 30 secs later..a city cop drives by in the opposite direction...
Final verdict...this detector works! Saved my **** 3 times today
I know this prolly isnt all that interesting..but i thought i would share. This wasnt a racing story so i posted it here...

I don't think cops ever care about traffic coming from the opposite directions.
I should really bite the bullet and buy one too though.
