Pretty much. Totally useless for the price and $$$
I thought it never had auto 4WD? You have to run it in 4HI manually.

I did, all varying trims, they had a Limited and a 1794 also you could sit in, very nice inside.

I agree, the cargo area is a complete miss. The prior generation Sequoia had a fabulous amount of space in the back, plus the 3rd row was good even for adults.

Still like the TRD Pro version, but maybe not enough to actually buy one.
Very little, but thats Toyota for you...

It does not have auto 4wd like a GM. Think of it like this.....your LX my two 4R full time 4WD system adds a 2WD mode...that is it. But the vehicle can't go from 2WD to full 4WD automatically, it has to be switched by the driver....but once in full time 4WD mode, it can stay in the full time 4WD forever

Sure, I agree. My old Explorer had 2WD, 4WD auto which was multi-mode full time you could use all the time, and 4WD low which had a locking transfer case. That setup is perfect IMO, gives you all the options. You can switch from 2WD to 4WD Auto and back at any speed in any situation. 4WD low you had to stop and put it in neutral. Hilarious the all new state of the art Sequoia doesn't live up to a vehicle from 27 years ago in this regard

Old Sequoia had more seating options, as you could seat up to 8
Indépendant rear suspension (although I like a solid axle)
Hydraulic adaptive variable suspension (just like LX470)
Far more rear interior space
Better loading
Rear roll down window (although I don't like the ones I have)
A BIG V8
multi-mode 4WD with 2WD, Full time 4WD, 4LO with a centre differential lock

Although the new Sequoia is a nice design. Looks great and has better MPG, it did take a step back in design.

The rear cargo area is really a result of it being a hybrid. Even with the live axle it would have been packaged better if they didnt have to home the batteries.

The solid axle is a huge reason. batteries yes. there really should be no reason for a solid axle as all of the competitors use a IRS....

If you look at the old live axle GM SUVs they were packaged better, I think Toyota would have been able to at least accomplish that if it werent for the batteries. That keeps them from being able to have the third row collapse into the floor.

The GMs were ok. But they still rode higher. The outgoing Sequoia had it perfectly set up for the rear.

Sure, but they had flat load floors and seats that folded into the floor at least.

That is such a compromise, new Sequoia still has a flat floor as well. I have the same 3rd row set up...its so dumb. The Sequoia was ahead of GM in their design...now GM has gone ahead and Toyota steps backwards. New Tahoe even has four corner air suspension

problem is when you take 15 years to update your design, by the time your late design is production ready its outdated compared to the rest of the market. Guess gotta wait 15 years for IRS?
