heard this on the local sports station and had to look it up. couple of atlanta thrashers were in a horrific crash last night in a 2002 360 spyder. one is in critical condition and the other has a broken jaw. looking at the photos, you wonder how either survived. and yes, the car was split in HALF
Pics.......

lap belt was completely destroyed....

story can be found here

And Canadians are supposedly so sensible.

I noticed this part:

Last year, Heatley was involved in another wreck not far from where Monday night's crash occurred.

On Jan. 10, 2002, Heatley rear-ended another vehicle on Roxboro Road near Rockhaven Circle, according to an Atlanta police report.

Heatley, who was driving a 2001 Infiniti QX4, told the investigating officer that he didn't notice that a 1997 Infiniti had stopped for traffic. His car hit the older Infiniti, knocking it into a Jeep Cherokee.

No injuries were reported, and Heatley was charged with following too closely.

Ye i saw this story on a sports show. After looking at the video of how badly damaged the Ferrari is, its a miracle that these guys survived without major injuries.

FWIW, the passenger, Dan Snyder is still in a coma, the Driver Dany Heatley is in the hospital, but he has a court date. If Snyder dies he could get 15 years in prison... I was really hoping the Thrashers would have a good year, maybe next season.

Heatley was charged with reckless driving, serious injury by vehicle, driving too fast for conditions, driving on the wrong side of the road, and striking a fixed object, the report said.

Unhappy Dan Snyder passed

R.I.P.

My condolences to his friends and family.

He passed last night due to his injuries. They indicated he never regained consciousness.

Wake up call....80 in a 35 is not smart....that's a Ferrari...and any Lexus could suffer as well. Be safe guys

Thumbs down sad situation. goes to show

everyone needs to have attonement for the misstakes they make. its all fun and games til someone dies. I was in a similar situation where an idiot driver i was with almost killed us both. The person who i thought of as my friend was doing 85 and we wrecked in a 25 mph curve. Back is now never going to be the same. people just need to be more safe.

That is so sad for Dan Snyder (25 years old). He just started his life at such a young age. It just goes to show that "kids" don't know how to handle money and fame. Dany Heatley is 22 years old with a Ferrari? Obviously never deserved that car and the fame since he's such an idiot.

Yeah, on Lenox road. Atlanta Metro guys should know exactly where this happened. Definately not a wise decision on the driver's part. It kinda broke my heart to hear that Snyder did not survive. This, on top of reading in detail about a BMW canyon run that turned into a fiery accident with a fatality, have really impacted me.
