Hi all, my friend is looking into getting a 1987 Jaguar XJ6.

What I was wondering is if these cars were reliable at all (I'm not big on the history of Jaguars), and whether or not it's a bad car for him to get in terms of something that will last him. He's not a big car buff, and isn't one to do small at home repairs like changing spark plugs, etc.
(this would be an early graduation present from his Grandmother, and he plans on keeping it through college)
my dad found a 1988 jag and he was excited cuz he wanted me to find another car to drive and i was like heck no...the jag will equal junk. it was in good shape when my neighbor bought the car...oh then he had to dump 4g's into it...lol...a money pit
Oh dear GOD no....NNOOOOOOOOOOOO
Run as fast as you can before something catches fire while looking at it.........
My Dad had one back when I was younger, he bought the car new and had it 2 months. Swore he would NEVER BUY ANOTHER BRITISH POS AGAIN!!!!!!! The car actually caught fire after numerous electrical problems.
