Why doesn't Toyota rebadge a Tesla, they've already sold their soul and did it with BMW no dignity left anyway.
LOL it's not that way! I'm too tired to get into the explanation of why they partnered with BMW right now, it's hard for me to say this, but it was the right thing to do. We'll talk about it tomorrow

Toyota deep six'd that partnership and sold their Tesla shares shortly after so they could focus on hydrogen.
There was not enough interest in the RAV4 EV at the time.
I do see some Toyota Mirai on the road here in the Bay Area, but not enough to say they are being adopted in great enough numbers. I think this is just a pet project to show that they can build an alternative energy vehicle. Just like when Google released the first HTC Android. To show that were serious and can
while range is important, there's more to a vehicle than that. also, endless reviews show tesla's range claims are exaggerated while mach-e, kona ev and others consistently meet or exceed their range claims.
curious, what's the longest trip you've taken in your model 3 and what's the longest range you've achieved on a single charge?
The furtherest we have driven is about 150 miles. We don't use the Model 3 for trips.
The GS350 probably gets used the most. Wifey's new RX450h F Sport will be next.
Truth be told, if a trip is over 200 miles, I generally get on a plane.
I get a lot of questions from perspective owners. I tell them I own other cars as do every EV owner I know.
I ask them how will they charge and can they really afford a Tesla?
An Accord/Civic or Camry/Corolla makes a lot of sense for many people. But Teslas are cool and cars are emotional buys.
Not sure who kirk kreifels is....
The Cybertruk and SEMI are supposedly near, but of course that is in Elon years, which could mean anything.
But I can tell you Teslas are amazing vehicles.
The CEO of one of the medical device startups I work for (the parent company is an incubator) currently has a Model S and just recently put down a deposit for the Cyber Truck... he says because it will reportably have a 400 miles range. To me it's ugly as hell, I told him he should consider the F150 EV truck. That at least looks nice, is more practical

figured. you've gushed over tesla frequently, but thanks for being honest that you'll use your ICE or hybrid vehicle for anything over 150 mi. which isn't far if it's a round trip.
Not picking on you specifically, but would just appreciate if going forward you (and everyone else) can limit posts only about tesla to threads about tesla.
posts comparing a thread's subject to specific aspects of a tesla are ok in moderation.

Just to clarify... I haven't driven the Model 3 further than 150 miles, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't.
I would probably take the GS or RX, but if I am going somewhere of any distance, like San Diego, Texas, I am on a plane.
Apologies if it sounds like I gush over Tesla; I like all of our cars. I try and add my real world experience to any car I own.
I can tell you, there are a lot of misconceptions about EVs and Teslas in general. The cars are different and not for everyone.
Finally, I completely want to comply with rules. Did my post go outta bounds? I appreciate your thoughts!
Back to the original post cliff notes, lexus apparently will introduce an EV about NX sized next year with an all new design, based on TNGA platform. If we don't really have any other info, this thread has probably run its course.
Apparently they think it's time that people stop badmouthing the spindle grill....
Actually, this grill looks more LEGO like to me. Perhaps, that is the demographic Lexus is pursuing this time around.
Lexus is by no means a leader in automotive design. They build solid cars, but I typically think other auto styles are more attractive.

I think cars like the LC500 and IS350 are far better looking than it's relative competition. The FWD cars are not good looking though

I'm not a fan of the 3rd Gen (or 4th on some models)giant grills but IMO most Lexus vehicles such as IS, GS LC etc. have a very timeless look that never age to me. The front grill on the EV concept is typical of all EV's, the goal being aerodynamics to achieve more miles on a charge
I’m honestly not trying to be a snarky here, but what about the Lexus customer that buys the brand for its larger luxury vehicles? I’m over 6’3” with physical limitations due to a back injury. For the last twenty years or so, I’ve had to shop for vehicles that offer taller driver door egress and it’s been difficult. We’ve also needed to shop within a limited budget. I use to prefer the Toyota products, but when evaluating their larger SUV’s, Lexus Certified Pre-owned SUV’s wasn’t that much more of a financial stretch and you get more for the dollar.
My question is, If Lexus abandons these types of vehicles in favor of all-electric NX or UX based models, what options are the luxury SUV buyers going to be left with?
