Beautiful truck. And there really is no comparison to the sound of a V8 at work. That's the reason why I removed my resonator and put a magnaflow muffler on my truck. Music to my ears.
The towing improvement has to be significant. I know the Tacomas are rated to tow the kind of weight you see in those smaller travel trailers, but I don't think I'd want to do it. It's not just the weight, but also the fact you have a giant sail behind you with a camper. I've seen too many accidents from people towing more trailer than their truck had any business towing.
Tundra is just whole different league from a Tacoma, you'll love it. Listen to that 5.7 engine purr, I call it butch lol. The long gone Marlboro Man. I was just out running errands and I had to pull out fast and gunned it, I thought of you haha. Gosh it sounds and feels great.
Your interior looks like ***** Wonka's candy room, I can't even imagine how good the new car smell is in that thing. Will you take some up close pics of the steering wheel just whenever?
I have owned two Tacomas and they have easily been among the favorite vehicles that I have owned. They were both very satisfying for me. I've owned one full size truck, a 2000 Silverado, which I HATED and didn't think I would go back to a full size, but full size trucks are so much different than they were in 2000. I can already tell it would be hard to go back to a Tacoma, even though I still love them and was sad to see mine go. This truck won't be so easy for around town jaunts, but the Tacoma, being a 4 door extended cab and the long bed, wasn't truly that easy either. It wasn't that wide, but was very long and not that easy to park.
The family has talked about driving the trailer from Seattle to Yellowstone then on to see family in Wisconsin and Minnesota next summer. I had previously said no because I knew that would be an awful ride in the Tacoma. Just in my short drive towing the trailer in the Tundra yesterday, I would totally be on board.
The interior is an interesting one. My wife thinks it looks like an "old man" truck interior. My Tacoma, Highlander, and GS all have black leather interiors, so I am glad that this one is different, but at times it seems a bit loud. Probably just because I'm so used to black interiors.
And yes, it smells wonderful, and yes, I'll take a close up picture of the steering wheel for you and post it.

Thanks Brett! I actually thought of you as I was looking at Fords too. They were even more supply constrained than the Tundras were. I know you've been happy with yours.
I've only owned one V8, which was the 4.7 iForce V8 in my 2007 4Runner and I loved it. It really is hard to beat that sound and the feel of it.
As for towing, it's night and day. The Tacoma could do it. It just didn't like it. And pushing a vehicle into something it doesn't like is just not a relaxing drive. When I pulled the trailer with the Tundra yesterday, it was unbelievable and relaxing. It made things a bit more jittery and bumpy, as I would expect, but that was mostly around town. Once I got out on the freeway, I could hardly tell it was there. I felt like I had to flog the Tacoma to maintain 60 with the trailer, often shifting down to 3rd gear on the highway to manage a hill or accelerate. The Tundra just floated along like nothing. Up hills were no bother. Just amazing. Plus, having an actual tow mode and an integrated brake controller is so much better. The headlights are also adjustable, so they don't point to the sky under a load out back. That will be handy while towing I am sure.

Tacomas are literally #1 for resale value. People love them. I'm just a full size kinda guy. Even if the wood is fake it looks good. It's a high quality interior regardless.
Do the Tundras have the second gear start ability? I love that especially if I'm on a hill at a light. Realllllly shows you how flat and impressive the torque curve the V8 provides, you just ride the torque wave.

And that has been backed up by my experiences with both of them. Their resale value is amazing. I think Tundra is #3 for resale if I remember correctly.

I'm quickly becoming a "full size kinda guy" too.

Good question. I don't know. I will need to look into that.
Congratulations on the Tundra! You made a good choice on getting the Tundra and the 1794 package looks great as well. Do you have any plans to modify it or anything like that?
The F-150 is very tempting and a really nice vehicle but I’d probably go with a Tundra myself. I really like those trucks. The 1794 interior is so pretty.
Thank you! There is a sense of giddiness every time I fire up that engine. I have only put about 60 miles on it so far, but it's very impressive and sounds so good.
thats the beauty of a V8 just the way it sounds on start up & under acceleration; overall adds so much character especially to a truck.
Tundra with the upgraded interior is quite nice. Personally, I like the wood as well. Being real doesn’t really matter. It really is hard to beat the interior space and size. Something I really admired about the current crew cab Tundra is the rear seats have height adjustable shoulder belts. I highly doubt the next gen model will have that.
As for the engine. I know people like to get upset about fuel economy but, there really has to be something said that there is no annoying start stop function, the cylinders always stay working and don’t shut down and the engine is not optimized to save fuel. It just works.
‘’compared to the RAM EPA is based on mid level fuel so the operating costs on only $200 per year
The 2021s are even HTF there's barely enough stock to sell down this generation, so congrats on the 1794. I think there's plenty of buyers still that want the V8.

Lol yep. I don't own a Tundra but I do have the 5.7, I would assume they fire up the same. The cooling fans go every time I start mine. I wish I started it with a key. You know you're waking up a beast.
