Also, back seat of that mother is huge and spacious and I'm sure comfortable for long trips. I want to say Tundras are known to have spacious rear seats?

Looks great! I would agree with getting the 5.7, not sure how the new engine will do towing.

Still, I am anxious to see the new Tundra, Sequoia and Lexus LX. I just pray they don’t screw it up, like they did with the LS. I have been waiting patiently for these new redesigns, I hope at least one of them is a home run!!!!!

Very nice! My old Tundra was awesome but I tow a bit heavier and my 2009 had a tiny 26 gal gas tank, I think the newer ones addressed that shortfall. Had to switch to a diesel which drives like a truck - the Tundra mostly drove like a car which was great.

The back seat is ridiculously huge. It'll be very comfortable for our upcoming road trips.

Probably true.

I'm not totally against the turbo engine, but the V8 is a known engine and I really just wanted one more V8. Nothing beats the sound.

I totally get that. When towing with the Tacoma, I'd get about 10-11 mpg with only a 21 gallon tank, meaning I would have to gas up way too frequently. I couldn't even drive from Seattle to Portland (200 miles) on one tank, at least not without rolling into Portland on fumes. The base Tundra comes with a 26 gallon tank but there's an available upgrade. Mine has the 38 gallon tank.

Congrats! I put in a throw-away offer a 1794 TRD Off Road, Tundra exactly like yours about 5-years ago (it likely had less tech). The dealer led me to the door as I was almost $10K below the MSRP. I loved the ride and the power, but couldn't stomach the (then) $52K price. Decided to keep my 2001 until the redesigned Tundra debuted. Still waiting....

BTW...would you mind sharing what you paid?

Thank you!

The sticker was $59k and some change. No dealers would negotiate pricing, so that is what I paid, but the real negotiations happened on my trade in, which I was well compensated for. If the new and used markets were different, I wouldn't have gotten so much on my trade, but then I probably would have been able to negotiate the price. I figure it's about a wash.

So not the deal of the century by any means, but "good enough" to get it done.

congrats!

i think you leased the tacoma? did you lease this one, or buy?

either way, that's a sweet truck and a REALLY nice interior.

38 gallon tank? that's like $150 to fill up

Thanks bit!

Yes, the Tacoma was a lease, but the crazy trade in value made it a piece of cake to get out of. We just used it as a straight trade in and I applied the equity to the Tundra, which I purchased. I was open to a lease on the Tundra, but the current Tundra leases sucked.

And yes, that tank is going to be a killer to fill! When we're not using it for traveling, it's going to last me a very long time so at least filling it won't be a frequent event, but when we are towing/road tripping, I'll need to be prepared...

Around town refuel at 50% that’ll make it hurt less lol. On the road though the range will be great!

Tundra is just whole different league from a Tacoma, you'll love it. Listen to that 5.7 engine purr, I call it butch lol. The long gone Marlboro Man. I was just out running errands and I had to pull out fast and gunned it, I thought of you haha. Gosh it sounds and feels great.

Your interior looks like ***** Wonka's candy room, I can't even imagine how good the new car smell is in that thing. Will you take some up close pics of the steering wheel just whenever?

Hahaha, we do this but not at 50%. In all honestly you still spend the same amount. But it really doesn't seem like it, or it tricks me enough at least lol. We don't refuel at 50% but when the light comes on you still have five gallons (?) so we just fill it up right away. Makes it seem like we're not spending as much.

I do believe it's fake wood, not real as would be found in a Lexus.

Thank you! There is a sense of giddiness every time I fire up that engine. I have only put about 60 miles on it so far, but it's very impressive and sounds so good.
