New Toyota Land Cruiser debuts
Top of Line LC reveal....
It should deliver better fuel economy than the 200 with the V8. Otherwise, it looks bland, no pano roof still (probably bc it would compromise the structure during hard off roading, so it gets a pass), no split tailgate, and no mechanical cooling fans anymore. Not a fan of any of those things. However should be well faster 0-60 than claimed. 6.7 seconds is roughly the same as the current one. The cooling fans I love, just a distant whir to remind you you're in a real truck with a big engine.
I want to see a road test on one of these soon. I hate that it lost the V8 but the ttV6 numbers are nothing to scoff at.

I think it looks good from the front but the rest just doesn't do it for me... 200 LCs don't have the prettiest rear ends but they do manage to look expensive at least, this doesn't. Split tailgate gone sucks, that is a very usable feature that virtually no other SUVs have.
Now obviously the new LX I'm very interested in.

The top spec conversion from Australia and NZ is $125,000 US I think that is why it was cancelled in the US.
I hate the V8 is gone but it is what it is, gotta try to accept it. I want to know how reliable the ttV6 is, and will be. Can you just do nothing to it ever and it still run like Toyotas are known to do? (I don't keep my cars like that except my GMC....I do nothing to it maintenance wise except oil change and it won't break down or die) Next time I'm at Lexus I'll ask my SA if any LS500s have had engine troubles.
I'm sure this is as capable as ever off road. I bet next Lexus LX will be pretttttty darn nice. I assume they'll keep all the heavy duty 4WD stuff, it really adds to the experience. I've been looking up off road parks all over the country...

You do have to be a little careful with price comparisons from Australia, there is a 33% luxury tax on the cost amounts exceeding a particular threshold (it seems to be around 70K in this case) plus there is a GST which would be included as well. Pretty much any expensive car costs more there than it does here, but much of the difference is tax and whether or not the price includes tax (pretty much everyone discussing US pricing does so on a tax-exclusive basis, in countries with a VAT/GST the taxes are usually embedded into the MSRP)
As for open cup holders, it depends on the vehicle. In a luxury vehicle I like closed cup holders. In a vehicle that’s more utility based I don’t mind open cup holders.
Just goes to show you that companies can't please everyone. Lol
I think the last ones with the special trim in the special black color, black trim headlights with the bronze wheels look amazing but otherwise, Land Cruisers aren’t the prettiest out there, but they do have presence. I personally have no idea why anyone would buy a LC over an LX since they’re nearly the same price.
2. Not having to deal with remote touch
3. smaller standard tires and no hydraulic suspension so that off road gurus can mod
4. the most capable SUV by Toyota or Lexus
5. Exclusivity as there aren’t as many
The front end on the LX is pretty bad. IMHO
