Nobody is doubting the “Performance” of Model S.

Most ppl don’t like it for these issues:
1) Charge time
2) Cheap interior for price with no customization
3) Idiotic steering wheel
4) Price
5) Build quality / fit &finish
6) Dated / lazy exterior design

All of the above are deal breakers for me no matter how great the 0-60 time is.

McLaren 720s is better performance with carbon tub vs Ferrari F8 Tributo but the Ferrari is way more desirable for its other qualities.
Tesla needs to start being a well rounded product to gain meaningful marketshare in luxury segment.

Everyone Plaid owner I've seen loves the car. You hate it, not people that actually own one.

These cars are 2x-3x the price and purpose built sports cars, farcical comparison.

I don’t hate the car but 0-60 time doesn’t impress me at all. It has many other shortcomings for the $$$.

I wasn’t comparing McLaren and Ferrari to Model S 🤣
My point was although 720s is faster and has a Carbon tub - people still prefer the F8 Tributo even though its more expensive, slower, and is not CF chassis....

Therefore even if Plaid model did 0-60 in 1sec, Sclass would still be the preferred sedan in this class as its a much better product overall.

Its not a great comparison. The S class competes more with the regular Model S LR that is only $80k. The only difference between the Plaid and regular is there is a $50k option for an obscene motor. Even the regular Model S LR would spank an S Class in performance and its befitting a car for around $80k. The Plaid is a wealthy person's toy car that can spank anything on the road for only $130k. I bet the Plaid outsells the S Class

About 25k Model S are sold in the US vs 15k S-Class. Plaid would have to sell 60% of the Model S to have a chance so maybe not. I could see it being about 40% at most but its too expensive to get 60% of the model sales. I'm only comparing US sales as Model S won't be available anywhere else for a long time due to capacity.

Or I could have just been doing this thing called using an expression.....

For real though, you think high end Merc owners sit and wish they had a Tesla? Lol.

The Plaid model will outsell the S-Class? Yea, I'll take that bet though.

Pretty nice interior. I have always loved the beige color. The exterior blue is very nice

fair enough, wish i hadn't brought up the comparison which spurred a typical ***** envy comparison discussion (not you). speaking of which...

Gotcha. Even if the plaid did the that laguna seca in under a minute and 0-60 in under a second i wouldn't really care. But i know it means a lot to some people.

It also seemed to me from watching that pike's peak run that he was on the very edge of losing control of the car on MANY occasions. The steering/tires and overall size/weight of the vehicle just aren't up to the task unless one has his serious skills (and insanity lol).

not sure what point that makes. People who bought one love it. Most who haven't or won't probably don't. Mmkay.

You're right, comparing an s class with a model s is absurd. The model s (even new one) is NOT a luxurious car. I've seen bathrooms with more class, character and better materials inside.

Really? That interior is SO plain and cheap looking to me, especially for a car costing $140K.

You are ***** per dollar kind of guy I gather the more cluttered and stuffed with bloat the better, that feels like luxury to you. LC500 steering wheel is half buttons, nothing wrong with that not everyone likes the clean, sleek design of a Tesla.

If you look at my past posts, I have always praised the interior of the Tesla S. Or in another words I have always liked it. I would think it is a luxury car interior. I’m not quite sure if it’s up to the price point, however I do like the design. That said lots of features missing in the interior, there is evidence of cost cutting, however I do like it. I also do like the minimalist design, but that does mean it’s not without its criticisms.

The beige interior looks good. So does the exterior colour. Maybe the materials suck on the new plaid I dunno. Haven’t sat in one.

as you later stated, the pikes peak video tells a different story about this car (granted it's a modified car). i have no doubt the porsche or some other cars are more fun to drive but tesla cars are very capable and handles a lot better.

people keep talking about weight, but huge part of the weight is actually at a very good position, as low as possible and between the axles. people who judge the handling of tesla from its weights and 4 doors simply haven't driven this car well enough to understand it. my model 3 is very heavy for a car but its handling is easily better than any of the lexus sedan i have owned.

i am still not saying tesla is the best (long list of meh on my car) but i think tesla has definitely achieved a lot with their technology, and they have also redefined a lot of things.
