USB 2.0 doesn't have the fastest data transfer rate, but Infrared is really slow.

I remember the HP LaserJet 5MP had an infrared port on the front and I remember wondering how many people actually had an infrared transmitter installed on their computers with a direct line of sight to the printer. Of course this was in the parallel port era and USB was still a twinkle in Intel’s eye.

Those old LaserJets worked forever, and the catridge yielded 20,000 pages.
I might be in the minority here, but I love Infrared. For a metallic paint, I think it's remarkable how vibrant it is, and it really sets off the black wheels and other black bits of the car.
