That is what we call “unconstitutional”. Police can’t just perform a drug test on a person because they know the person has used drugs or alcohol before. You have to have a reasonable suspicion at the time of the incident. Prior incidents is not a constitutionally-permissible reasonable suspicion

It would be foolish, IMO, for any person to abuse drugs or alcohol...but especially for a professional golfer, who has to judge distance and hit or putt the ball with extreme precision.

BTW, all this discussion about personal habits makes me remember an old saying that a "Tiger" doesn't change his stripes.

Not always true in real life, but a widely-used stereotype.

Also, people don't always have to have actual convictions before to be subject to drug-tests. If you work in some organizations like intelligence (CIA, FBI, NSA, etc...), law-enforcement, or the military, you may have to take regular drug-tests regardless of your previous records.....it is simply a condition of employment. his has been upheld in the courts for years.

For an everyday example, take someone who has been convicted of multiple DWIs. If the judge doesn't actually pull their driving-license outright, he or she may order the use of an alcohol-detection system in that person's vehicle that will prevent an engine-start. That, in effect, tests you every time you get into the vehicle.

NY Times is a joke, CNN/MSNBC are clownshows, CBS news/60 min stoop to manipulating video/what people say to push their agenda, they are all a joke so attacking NY Post for its "credibility" when they have broke some pretty important stories over the miserable excuses we have for news media that don't even really try to hide their bias/agenda is pretty rich.

You neglected to include Fox News, Newsmax, News Nation (if it's even still around) etc. and all of the evening talk/opinion shows on ALL of them. The Tiger accident should be out of the news before too long.

Folks knock off the media bias (which effectively is a politics) discussion.

Opioids and pain killers are highly addictive substances. “Just say no” is not an effective safeguard against addiction. TW has access to excellent healthcare so I would hope his docs would see signs of problems before it’s too late. But it happens to lots of people—elite athletes too.

Look up Rex Chapman’s story and you’ll see.

That’s a commonly misattributed quote, bykfixer. The actual source was Abraham Lincoln.

He'd had at least one DUI that I can think of. He's also passed out in cars.

It is my opinion that he got special treatment, naturally. As if there was no PC, I just don't believe that.

Being worth 900MM he really doesn't have too many concerns in life.

Yeah, that's what I thought. But maybe Honest Abe cribbed it from good old Ben, making the statement both true and ironic.

Oh absolutely. After all, the internet was really only just getting going back then so anything is possible.

Exactly. People don't understand addiction and most think they do (even if based on their own experience which may be vastly different). If "just say no" worked or even some significant consequences...they're not a real addict of the type so common.

Even worse when someone has money or fame many think even MORE of a reason that person shouldn't be an addict or even more so should never be unhappy. Lol. Naive thinking.

Addiction is real. Money is just money, really means very little.

True.....but that is only assuming that he was (or is) a true addict, which is doubtful. If you look at what these substances actually do to one's body (and brain), it is highly unlikely that the could have had the golfing career he did...his ability to hit or putt the ball with precision would have been severely impacted.

Once again, it's true that "Just Say No" is not of much use to a real addict, but it is the best possible advice one can give (or heed) before one reaches that stage.

While I’m the first to agree it’s all relative and that addiction is a verrrrry real thing, just how sorry am I supposed to feel for a man worth nearly a billion dollars who was driving like a lunatic? Thankful he didn’t hurt/kill some innocent driver or pedestrian.
