2022 Toyota GR Corolla...
I'm in San Jose too and can confirm there are lots of 86/BRZ's prowling the territory. I almost bought one myself, but after having issues with my Subi Impreza, lost interest. I would jump all over a "pure" Toyota sports car, or hot hatch like the Civic R if Toyota would oblige, but I would have to part with my 85 MR2 and SC430 (or divorce my wife).

Still a rumor (I don't see anything in the linked article that suggests your statement) and I'm still not optimistic about Toyota bringing this to the US. But I sure hope so, as the Yaris version has been extremely well-reviewed where it's been released and has sold out in multiple markets.
Doesn't verify it 100%, (just says a hot hatch) but a past article from the same source (Car and Driver) strongly suggests that we will get it here.
