Because I like the cars, but frankly my next car is going to be a LS500. Not so much because I have issues with BMWs, but rather because I am growing tired of the brand, and want something different.

Should get some seat time in the IS 500 in a few weeks!

I was in the same boat, I had an irrational love for driving them and my first couple were pretty issue-free even until high mileage. The turbo era was when they got bad, in my experience (135i here).

I dumped the 340 for the IS350 because waiting for tow trucks wasn't my cup of tea, and it has proven to be a good decision despite the less engaging driving experience. I have a pre-order in for an IS500 and can't wait to get my hands on it.

I am pretty boring in life...avid motorcyclist, trackjunkie, gearhead, and nerd. I love my numbers wether it's on the Dyno, on the dragy, at the strip, or the track. Sure beats those wannabe boba racers that like to talk a lot compensating for something.
How well has that Lexus flagship been received and selling with that new turbo V6? Its sales have plummeted, it is a failure in the market place where the older LS's with that NA V8 were very solid to in some cases class leading sellers.

I could say that I doubt you have ever actually dealt with BMWNA for an issue, but I'm not petty like you are

It’s ok if BMWs tickle your sphincter and they don’t do the same for me, no need to be a jerk to people who disagree on the internet.
So im guessing your 340i was tuned AND tracked?! LOL

BMW is pretty good as a lot of the cars are heavily modified and tuned - yet they continue to look away and for the most part honor warranty claims. I have never had any issues with any of my cars getting fixed under warranty but my cars are not tracked nor modified.

The refresh actually looks better on the LS500.
The main issue with the car is tight interior space - legroom, headroom etc.

If you want large sedan then consider the new Sclass. I’m seeing the new S580 everywhere - MB has another masterpiece.

Neither, it was my daily driver. I had a 330i ZHP that was fully track prepped and an e36 M3 that was trackable but I'd consider more OEM+. Those saw track duty.

I drive ~30k per year mostly for work, and can't afford to do anything to reduce the reliability of my daily driver. It was a bone stock M-Sport 340i.

Not sure where you're going with this as the 740i and the b58 sells great vs the 750i. I would say that its poor presence and lack of power train options is a big factor in this poor sales. And a Lexus V8 hasn't been class leading since 1998 when the gs400 debut.

These strange arguments against FI cars fail to see present landscape of the industry, and concentrate more on nostalgia. While I agree that living in the past can be great (I'm looking for a 1998+ Sc400 myself), Toyco/Lexus has barely budged on it's power train offerings the past decade save for the 3.5TT. why wouldn't you want them to do better?

I give the S class all the credit it deserves, but its not a car for me. I have no chemistry for Mercedes, lol.

Most likely because Lexus is not willing to offer attractive lease deals on the LS, otherwise the LS would do well. Even garbage like the antiquated GX is selling well, only because they offer better leases than similar sized German SUVs.

I'm out of breath catching up with two days of posts! I'm glad we're all getting along here... lol 😆. I don't think I have anything more to add from what I have previously written and what others have said, and those that don't like the IS500, well you've made it clear it's not the car for you. 0 to 60 in less than 5 seconds is plenty enough for me. Am I going to buy one? I don't know right now, I'm on the fence as an IS350 is plenty of power for my needs and is $10k less.

Lexus has pretty good lease deals on the LS.

SeanSkiVT exit this thread. I was clear the personal comments need to end in this thread.

biggest problem with the LS is not the car itself but its the market, people would rather spend that kind of coin on a luxury crossover/SUV not a sedan. Crossovers in general are just killing sedans
