Lexus IS500 F SPORT Performance
The ATS-V Blacking starts at $59k, even a C8 starts at $60k (can't buy them for that, but comparing MSRP all around). Starting at ~$70k is ridiculous to me.
No way loaded would go for 65. I always expected loaded to go over 70. If recent history of Lexus pricing is any indication then base pricing will be on par with decent build of M340i.
If the IS500 costs that much, it is dead before it even launches.
Over $70k is suicide. The M3 starts at $70k, and nicely equipped runs around $75-76k. It is a way more performant and special car, V8 or not. AMG C63 is right in that same ballpark, with its twin-turbo V8. $70k is also what a CT4-V Blackwing with every option except exterior carbon fiber costs.

It sounds like Lexus will be pricing this similar to the GS-F compared to vehicles like the M5 of the time, and even back then people complained about the GS-F being overpriced. I doubt this will sell in large volumes, nor will it be intended to. This is solely for hardcore Lexus/Toyota fans, like how the TLX Type S is solely for brand loyal Honda/Acura fans who don't bother looking at other vehicles.
I suspect the starting price of the IS 500 F-Sport Performance will be in the $58k-$60k range.
This is based off the speculation that the IS 500 F-Sport will be priced similarly to the BMW M340i, the MSRP of ~$50k for the 2021 IS350 F-Sport with DHP with a few premium upgrades (i.e. triple-beam headlights), and the base price of the RC-F being at $65k (which includes six-piston Brembo brakes and the notion of the RC platform starting price being a few grand higher than the IS platform).

I think the RC and by extension the RC-F is at the end of its rope. The recent news of the BRZ/86-based Lexus coupe alongside the cancellation of the RC in all other global markets, most recently Australia, indicate that the RC will soon be replaced.
With the RC-F out of the picture, Lexus will be able to set a new, probably higher price standard for future F models, likely all electrified to be sold globally.

Official 0-60 time is 4.5 seconds, which is identical to the official time for the GS-F. Too early to comment on the option packages and features because Canadian and US models won't be the same, but it will be very disappointing if a car supposedly priced in the $60-$70K range comes with only NuLuxe.
