I was thinking maybe loaded it would be $65k but with the demand of pretty much any car right now maybe $70k is doable.

I predicted it would be in that ballpark months ago, so I'm not surprised.

Still a dope car IMO, can't wait till they finally go on sale.
I sure hope not. I think it will sell well loaded in the mid 60s. That is about $10k over an IS 350 F Sport and plenty of a price premium for 2 extra cylinders.

The ATS-V Blacking starts at $59k, even a C8 starts at $60k (can't buy them for that, but comparing MSRP all around). Starting at ~$70k is ridiculous to me.

No way loaded would go for 65. I always expected loaded to go over 70. If recent history of Lexus pricing is any indication then base pricing will be on par with decent build of M340i.

Over $70k is suicide. The M3 starts at $70k, and nicely equipped runs around $75-76k. It is a way more performant and special car, V8 or not. AMG C63 is right in that same ballpark, with its twin-turbo V8. $70k is also what a CT4-V Blackwing with every option except exterior carbon fiber costs.

If the IS500 costs that much, it is dead before it even launches.

$70k before a dealer $10k discount if that's the case. Any way you look at it, its an old engine and an old chassis/platform no reason to charge more than $60k starting.

i think you're dreaming. I expect it will be $65K-70K and dealers will mark it UP $5-10K.

C63 will soon be replaced by a 4-cylinder turbo hybrid.

It sounds like Lexus will be pricing this similar to the GS-F compared to vehicles like the M5 of the time, and even back then people complained about the GS-F being overpriced. I doubt this will sell in large volumes, nor will it be intended to. This is solely for hardcore Lexus/Toyota fans, like how the TLX Type S is solely for brand loyal Honda/Acura fans who don't bother looking at other vehicles.

I suspect the starting price of the IS 500 F-Sport Performance will be in the $58k-$60k range.

This is based off the speculation that the IS 500 F-Sport will be priced similarly to the BMW M340i, the MSRP of ~$50k for the 2021 IS350 F-Sport with DHP with a few premium upgrades (i.e. triple-beam headlights), and the base price of the RC-F being at $65k (which includes six-piston Brembo brakes and the notion of the RC platform starting price being a few grand higher than the IS platform).

I agree, no way it will be priced anywhere near 70K if they want it to sell. It is using a older engine that was already utilized in several cars in a minor refresh model without all the unique suspension parts from a F so a very attractive price is something they should and likely will go for. There is no reason to price it very high. I still think they need to start it in the high 50's pretty well equipped to get some buzz and interest.

I agree with this... It would be hard to justify the price of the IS 500 over an RC F unless it had all the same performance equipment. They've already pretty much confirmed the suspension is carry-over, and the "enhanced brakes" mentioned in Lexus's ad are pretty vaguely described and probably not RC F brakes. I think the IS 500 will be, much like the IS 350 F Sport, a value play in the segment, if it comes loaded with all the same features as the IS 350, and be a little cheaper than a comparably-equipped M340i.

I think the RC and by extension the RC-F is at the end of its rope. The recent news of the BRZ/86-based Lexus coupe alongside the cancellation of the RC in all other global markets, most recently Australia, indicate that the RC will soon be replaced.

With the RC-F out of the picture, Lexus will be able to set a new, probably higher price standard for future F models, likely all electrified to be sold globally.

So the Canadian brochure has been leaked online:

https://www.lexus.com/content/dam/le...ide_IS500_2022

Official 0-60 time is 4.5 seconds, which is identical to the official time for the GS-F. Too early to comment on the option packages and features because Canadian and US models won't be the same, but it will be very disappointing if a car supposedly priced in the $60-$70K range comes with only NuLuxe.

The brochure you have in the link is the US version.
