Whoever started it, it is BMW/Audi/MB who have perfected the practice of the middle ground performance car NOWADAYS.

It is a GOOD thing that Lexus is now starting to implement this with the IS500 FSP. This shows that they are willing to learn and move on from past missteps. An affordable V8 compact RWD sedan is better than NO F line at all, (which is what will happen if no one buys high performance Lexus cars) so I'm not sure why longtime F car purists are complaining about the IS500 existing. The IS500 and a future ISF, LCF, RCF are not mutually exclusive, both can exist in the same space. In fact, the success of the IS500 will make possible the existence of the 2022+ ISF.

Where is your car enthusiasm? Your car forum passion....You are thinking like a bean counter.

I'd recommend stocking up on nice-sounding v8 cars because I don't think we have a choice in the matter of going electric.

There are just as many enthusiasts (if not more) on the Tesla forums as this or any other car forum. An exhaust note doesn't make a car good.

Some brands will build in noise. First time a Taycan drove by at Sobeys....you definitely hear a pleasant sound

Have you ever drive a Ferrari? 😀

I have had a go in F430 and 458 Italia - the noise that those cars make is like being in heaven. The scream of GT3 hitting 9k rpm or even driving LC500. The Noise is a huge part of the driving experience for most ppl.

Its not the only thing though. Yes, it can enhance the driving experience but it doesn't make/break a car. I agree it can especially enhance the supercar experience but lack of sound won't kill auto enthusiasm...thats just plain silly. People will just focus on other aspects that they like. Also, high performance EVs make their own unique sounds. Electric motors make spaceship sounds at full tilt and its really magnified in the Plaid models (go look up the introduction video) and the Taycan. I'd rather a my performance car do a quarter mile in the low 11s silently vs. 13s with exhaust at the same price.

But the one with an exhaust has nicer quality. A sunroof maybe? Some cooking seats...Apple car play (which is not a deal breaker IMO). Lots of tradeoffs

You are implying i'm talking about a Tesla. I could be talking about a Mach E with some of those traits or any other car at a certain price range. EVs are much much easier to make faster.

Yes and it doesn't have to be a supercar either. I love the way the V8s purr in both of my vehicles, they sound great.

LS 4.3 just hums like a sewing machine unless you prod it then you hear ripping silk.
