Seeing that you come from BMW you may very well like it.

Despite having a few performance BMWs, I do not drive aggressively at all. I've always had a thing for big RWD sedans, and the LS500 just really starts to appeal to me. It's relatively rare, unlike the 7 and the S class that are all over NYC, and there is just something sinister about its Kiriko glass trim and its ML audio has no equal. I'll have to seriously check it out when its time for a new car.

Youre used to the tighter feel though.

You have a few years on me, but the thought of buying an ES (even in my 30s) makes me almost as sad as Lexus being defined by the RX and ES...

Haha! I wanted an LS but what I could afford was an ES, and I didn’t want to buy used.

I was born 55.

Although I agree that today's ES is not as pleasant to sit in and drive as the superb 4Gen model of the early 2000s, and today's Spindle-grilles can get under the skin of some people, the dominance of the ES and RX is there for a reason. They simply make the most sense to the highest-percentage of Lexus buyers, meet their daily-driving needs well, have been reliable, and have produced many satisfied customers over the years.

Yeah, I get that it's about volume but I still think it's sad when you're no longer define by your "flagship" vehicles but your volume seller crossover and entry-level(ish) sedan. Not saying it will happen to Lexus, but I remember when that point when Infiniti became less known for the Q and more for the G and FX.

I do get the attachment members have with the previous LS models....but I saw a LS460 and LS500 today...the 460 looked bulbous and bloated....LS500 looked modern, lower, sleek and contemporary.

All you keep talking about is looks. If I cared primarily about looks over comfort and ride quality and refinement and space I wouldn’t be buying this sort of car. It’s a great looking car, but that’s just not enough to make it a great flagship car.

There are many far more beautiful cars to buy if all I cared about was looks. I think all the cars in the flagship class are very good looking and looks wouldn’t be a differentiating factor to me for any of them.

Of course, but you offer up a statement of the style as a reason why our criticisms aren’t founded. They put style before comfort and space in the 500 in a big way, and you see the result it sells very poorly.

Im not saying one should drive the 460 forever because of it, I didn’t...I left the brand after 7 of them. Many many LS buyers have done the same thing.

g.
They made it more of a drivers car. I commend Lexus for doing something totally different than they did previously. It’s more lustful.
