But some cars...the seat backs might go farther back vs other cars.

I sat in both back to back - ES has much more space.
The headroom in the LS is nonexistent also.

LOL don't blame Lexus for Toyota's mistakes

The only thing holding Lexus back, is Toyota

Can we really blame Toyota when the LS has almost zero Toyota components? Almost everything about the car is bespoke to the Lexus brand.

I know what he meant, but what I'm saying is that Toyota corporate clearly didn't cheap out developing this car as a Lexus, unlike say an ES or RX. The LS certainly is no bean counter vehicle. It's just that the choices that went into it are questionable from a consumer perspective.

Where Toyota holds Lexus back is their refusal to update half the Lexus lineup. That's not the issue with the LS.

Forum moderator Yamae in the LS400 forum shared some insight about how the LS500 really is badly cost reduced relative to earlier generations.

What unibody- Lexus product isn't? I say unibody because the ladder-frame LX and GX seem to have kept much of their build-solidness....and even the LX sets to be using some thinner/lighter interior parts.

Exchange rates over time JPY/USD, cost cutting pressures, frustrated engineering teams.

Do you remember the thread? Would be interesting to read. Hard to believe the new model is cost cut as there is so much new technology in every new LS model generation.

it’s across the board honestly. If the flagship is a veneer of what it used to be, you can imagine that the whole lineup below is going to have it even worse.

I can’t find the big one since I’m browsing on my phone. Here’s one thread where he discusses LS430 vs LS400

It would be interesting to read the argument of the LS500 being cost cut prior to a generation or multi generations before.
