Sales for 2020. It should be noted that no Toyota/Lexus passenger car had a sales increase last year except the Supra & the LC. The LC was due, no doubt, to the convertible. Of the 1325 LCs sold, only 14 were hybrids.
If Lexus actually launched the LC properly with Coupe and Convertible about 1 year apart and then the high performance LCF shortly after - i think it would have sold MUCH better. It has received amazing press reviews and I personally know how good the car is to drive. Unfortunately with little marketing support and poor rollout of full model range = poor sales. The other limitation is limited customization which is extremely important to enthusiasts who buy a car like this especially at $100k plus.

You should post what cars brands actually did increase their passenger cars for reference.
LS500 sales were almost halved from last year, geez.
If you look at the numbers, the LS is down 34.6% for 2020....that's about one-third, not half. Nevertheless, I partially agree with you that the LS sales are suffering because they screwed up a (formerly) good design.

Had nothing to do with 2020 for Buick ...Lacrosse was to illustrate how bad sedan sales were before it was canned......All new redesign of sedans are declining. Show me a sedan that is up on sales from the previous redesign....LS sedan sales are down (just to blame it only on the design is wrong)...for anyone to suggest/imply they might have increased from the previous redesign is just silly and pathetic
The only sedan that is actually increasing in sales is the Tesla 3...(but that is not a redesign)
Lexus LS should not be redesigned and should be cancelled...this should be the last model and Lexus should build a crossover LS to replace it. Avalon should not redesigned either. Move it to crossover
The LS sales are lower than the last year of the LS 460, so yes - very pathetic. This thing never reached sales goals since day one. The time between redesigns also hurts the brand, as buyers get sick of waiting and move on.
LS460 from 2009 to 2017 never exceeded the sales figures from the final year of LS430
True. My feeling is that the drop off in such early years of a redesign is unprecedented for the LS.
Yes, we are definitely in a SUV and truck market, but the drop off in sales for the LS is concerning, especially for the flagship of Lexus. I am concerned that the LS may become history, sooner than later.
Will be very interesting to see how all the upcoming redesigns for the larger Toyota/Lexus SUVs and Tundra pan out.

.
The LS460 declined in the 2nd year after redesign from 35K to 20K.. 3rd year of the LS460 was at 11K...only one year did the LS460 ever outsell the LS430

I actually really like the current Japan made SUVs....so don’t care....The USA Tacoma.Tundra.and Sequoia could be discontinued if Toyota wants, I wont miss them

Can’t believe people are still defending LS500 lol.
If you had extensive experience in LS430 and LS460 - the LS500 was a completely different car. Its not a flagship.
LS used to outsell Sclass, now it can’t outsell Genesis G90.
Jill, you are correct. Maybe the LS has lost its luster all together? Those sales figures don’t lie. Seems to do well after a redesign, then not so much a year or two later. Certainly, the low sales can’t continue. Not sure about total worldwide sales, but US is in the dumps.
They would miss out on larger SUVs, if they focus on smaller models. If the Sequoia is done nicely, it should sell very well.
I would never consider a new rig, if it has been out since 2008, without a total redesign. I am interested in the new Sequoia if/ when it comes out. I would also consider the new LX, depending on price.
I am very interested in the Genesis GV80, but will wait until the hype dies down to test drive one. Plus with Covid, I am barely driving. Once Covid ends, I may be in the market.

Notwithstanding the fact that Steve recently came home with a new S560, sales of large sedans are down sharply in the U.S., period...and, for that matter, luxury-coupes as well, notwithstanding the fact that bitkahuna just got one. So, yes, part of it is simply mistakes made in the general design of the LS500....and part of it is the depressed-sedan-market itself.
