Default do you ever watch car vlogs on YouTube

And want to jump right through the screen or bang your head against a wall?! This could apply to repairs and how to's.....but the last one I watched I wanted to do....

A guy has a Corvette ZR1 and a '17 Denali, and says he is a GM fanboy. He decides he wants to get a truck and diesel, to have extra capacity for towing....lives in LA and found what he wanted in AL. So the vlog begins....

He had a signed agreement, and once he and his buddy got to the Buick GMC which was over 2 hours away, suddenly things are going south.....truck not ready, then they grab the keys to his Denali and are gone.

The numbers are staggering his truck was 79k? And they agreed to 44k for the trade. He was pretty forward, what's going on, where's my truck, I wanted to be in and out, and the entire time in the dealership I'm thinking wow this is the c*** I've been putting up with since 2011....

Long story short sales mgr comes back and says they need to add $1300 to the amount because his tires are at 4/32. He immediately gets up and leaves with his friend, and are told he won't be able to make it home on those tires hahahahahahahahahahaha

At the end of the vlog he shows the tread depth with an electronic gauge....6/32 all around....

Just when I saw all the staff and the mentality it reminded me why I haven't been to a dealer in 2 years now and DIY all repairs that I can, and go to a private garage for stuff I cannot or don't want to....I'm also reminded that I really like GM products, but can't stand the dealer network....

I mean some of this seems ultra amped up for the sake of the vlog and clicks, but obviously no dealer would willingly agree to such negative publicity.

As with any OEM, there are good dealers and bad dealers. Obviously there may be more of one vs the other within certain OEMs. But as far as sales satisfaction, Buick and GMC tend to fare better than most non-luxury counterparts (although you could argue that a $79K truck is indeed firmly in the lux territory). Same for the service side, with Buick, Chevrolet and GMC coming in 1-2-3 in the Customer Service Index measured by JD Power for 2020.

My direct experience with our combined Buick/GMC store back home was nothing but positive. Easy and direct sales communication, as well as good service support. Now, that dealer is also in a fairly nice area and as such accustomed to supporting customers with high expectations.

In my overall experience, the good dealers can be really good. and the bad ones can be pretty bad, but those tend to be in smaller proportions, with a large majority falling in the middle of mediocrity

I wish we had such a dealer, I've tried them all in the Phila. area (more than 5). But as mentioned, I bought a 10 y.o. LS430 from Buick GMC in Westchester, NY, and stuff was broken on the car after I drove away, and they fixed it for free. Just unfortunately 2 2+ hour round trips back.

But what I saw on the guy's vlog was what I was used to so I wanted to jump through my screen lol

Oh but to give you an example, over 1 year to fix a captain's chair on my wife's car, under warranty. One year. At some point we don't feel like getting upset, really--I pick and choose. I was with a colleague in Toronto on a project and he told me, man, you are so cool and collected, if that were me I have been screaming and all down that guy's throat. I told him, look, I can do the Jack Nicholson Five Easy Pieces routine if I have to, but I won't when i don't feel it's going to yield any results--he assured us of xyz, and I fact checked him and 3 others told me the same. that's why I decided not to do what you said...
