Car looks okay. I'm surprised its so slow...every iteration of the M has gotten faster except this one. I wanna see the lap times on the Ring and see if its in the low 7 min. Also, its very pricey...i think the M340 just got a lot better looking as a bang for the buck BMW.
LOL, I mean come on! How is this getting a pass, yet the 2008 IS-F was absolutely torn to pieces (still does) because the exhaust was diagonally stacked?!?!
ISF was a standard unit, this is an M performance kit, which is optional so you pay extra for it if you desire. The face is different on these G series M cars but Lexus drivers of all has no place making fun when Lexus still have the biggest grills in the industry. The performance of these cars will make up for the new grill.
The numbers BMW publishes are bogus. Also, you can still get a manual which is great. While I won't buy a G series M car since I plan to get the G87 when that drops I would buy this car over the next gen C63 which will be turbo hybrid 4 cylinder. In the segment this car competes it will be number one in performance and that counts for something.
I saw the M3 in the green color at the UDE event at Met Life.
The grill and hood are a DISASTER! Rest of the car is ok - i do like the rear with CS type spoiler and aggressive rear diffuser.
Other Negatives compared to F80:
- Engine doesn’t Rev as high
- Much heavier (about 500lbs)
- NOT much faster in RWD form
- 1piston rear brakes
- No DCT
- Rear fenders are not as flared
- Side gill is no longer real just a badge
It's one man to blame, but you're right lol. Lexus reason for the big grills is the same as Dukec's who also claim he wanted to differentiate the M3/M4 from their regular counterpart. He claims he wanted it to be bold and aggressive which is what Lexus wanted with their grill lol. As for the performance vs your F80, there is no contest despite what BMW numbers claim.
Look no further than the X3M, that car weighs much much more and still manage to put down killer numbers so this RWD non comp will slaughter the F80, no contest. Wait and see, the numbers BMW publishes are more related to the B58 than the S58 which is in another realm.

I will wait for M2C that's more my forte.
I disagree that G80 RWD will be any faster than F80. Awd model will be a rocket. Remember the X3M is able to put the power down due to its M all wheel drive system. The issue for F80 is lack of traction due to so much torque. My car has 285s in rear and still spins through 3rd gear even using launch control. This is why they put AWD on new M3.
The S58 also is making less torque at lower RPM compared to S55 and engine does not Rev as high.
Every update of the M3/M4 gets the same hate over and over lol. While I'm not a fan, in Black it will look pretty good IMO since it will hide that ugly *** grille. Everything else looks great, and that Stacked Exhaust is a real exhaust while the ISF was fake that's why it got clowned. There is no way you can call this car "Slow" the AWD will be very quick and cost nearly the same as a new RCF or GSF which is laughable.

Its not as fast as expected given the horsepower bump. In RWD form, it will be about the same as the F80. Sure AWD will be a low 3s car but the traction control on the BMWs look finicky and isn't consistent. The BMW forums seem disappointed with the numbers...i think they were expecting high 2s but the proof will be in the Ring times it generates as it should handle well.
We shall wait to see but I still see this been much faster than the predecessor, that has never changed. Look at the M8, a car that big and heavy pulling down miraculous numbers, I know AWD helps but that's not the only factor. All these new M engines are incredible, S58 is much better than S55, soon we shall see the track times. How can G80/82 RWD times be M340i's time. These numbers are conservative, which is what BMW always do. My RWD M340i is what does 4-4.1 seconds in 0-60 and as good as the B58 is, it is inferior to the S58 not to mention the Chassis advantage of the M cars.

I don't believe those numbers, it will be faster than that and those are also the Non Competition numbers. BMW likes to lie about numbers.

Will be keeping my F80 comp for awhile lol
I don't blame you, I would keep what you have as well based on looks alone. I love the looks of the F80 comp but when I test drove one I just couldn't live with it for what I need it for on a daily basis.
As far as performance, the additional weight of the car is offsetting any hp increases which is why I think you are not seeing great performance numbers in a straight line.

That's why I'm looking forward to the Ring numbers. It's always been more focused on handling than straight line I agree about dailying an M3...kinda rough for everyday use
